A Look Back on 2006 at the Domain Name Aftermarket
The Domain Name Aftermarket continued to enjoy outstanding growth in 2006, with the number of domains sold in December up 50% over the same period last year - and more than double the number sold in November 2005. While .COM continues to dominate the secondary market, accounting for nearly 80% of all sales (followed by .NET, .ORG and .BIZ, respectively), we saw some big changes in 2006. At the Domain Name Aftermarket, the fastest growing TLD was .CC, whose sales increased at a rate of more than 400%, followed by .TV at 319%, .ORG at 247% and .WS at 203%. One last note... While .MOBI auctions are still just taking off after their introduction on TDNAM.com in November, their average sale price is already the highest of all TLDs, so keep an eye on this hot new domain extension.
