The Email Lottery seems to be a virus that is going around aplenty these past several weeks. In the last 6 months, I have recived no less that 30 emails telling me that my email address was drawn in an 'email address lottery' and that I had won loads of cash, and I mean millions! And I am talking about US and Pound Sterling. The two most interesting ones stated that I won, in one instance, US$35,000,000 and, in the other instance, £25,000,000. The lowest ones I have seen were for about US$900,000 and £802,000. If I were to add up all my 'winnings' thus far, I would be richer by about US$1,800,000,000 and £980,000,000.

In all the cases however, the operators of the 'lottery' asked me for my name, marital status, sex, country, phone number, and a few other personal details. A few even said that I would have to send some money to them so that they can send me the money I 'won'. When I asked them why not take the money they needed from my winnings they replied stating that the winnings are in an escrow account that they cannot touch. Yeah, right! Like I was born yesterday! On top of that, they said that I can get a lump sum payment if I cannot wait to get all of my winnings over a period of time.

They will stop at nothing to get peoples money these days.

There are tons of lottery-type scams going around.

As the internet becomes more and more widely used, so the scams will increase as new internet users can be easily munipulated.

It's one of those thing that is unlikely to stop for the foreseeable future. :td:

I have been getting quite a lot of those too lately. The funny thing is that the stocks that are being recommended are practically worthless or, in some cases, for non-existent entities.
