WHAT NAMES ARE BEING AUCTIONED OFF?:
1. Almost all of the names are registered off of my own EliteDeletes lists which I've now apparently been making off and on for over a year (time sure flies!). There will be a tiny percentage of names that I purchase after finding similar names on my drop list. 99% of them were expired when I purchased them...I almost never register fresh never-before-registered names. Examples of names I have registered using my droplist that I have SOLD are PayStars.com for $1500, OceanModel.com for $950, WhatWouldYouLike.com for $550, 800LoanYes.com for $500, and several others. They are names that I weeded out from a specialized list of expired names with OVT numbers, Google result totals, and/or my own expertise leading me to get them.
2. All will be names that at the beginning of the auction are expiring soon (about 5+ days in the future).
3. Add #1 and #2 together, you can infer that just about all of the names have been in registration for just about 2 or more years! Someone liked it before me enough to register it, and I with my picky tastes liked it enough to register it close to a year ago.
WHAT WILL THE AUCTIONS BE?:
1. All 24-hour auctions (with no bid extensions).
2. All starting minimum bid of $8.00 with minimum increment of $2.00 (was $1.00 on auctions beginning prior to Aug. 2, but I've begun to think that's too low).
3. If the name auctioned off is NOT bidded on, then there is a good chance I will not renew (and a possible chance that they will be caught on the drop via a $60+ drop purchase)
4. If the name auctioned off IS bidded on and won, AND the buyer pays in the necessary time frame allotted for the auction, I will renew the name for 1 full year before they receive the name. In other words, the winners of these auctions are essentially registering these names from me for the price they win the name for, just like a won drop auction on Pool or Snapnames.
5. An added benefit of buying these names now instead of after expiration: You keep the age of the names ticking, and domains with good age are becoming more sought-after. This gives you a year head start!
WHY AM I DOING THIS?:
1. Apparently it's been almost a year since I signed up at Fabulous.com which was consequently when I REALLY started buying bunches of names from my own drop lists. All of a sudden, I've got slews of names registered on Fabulous.com that are expiring. These are the names being auctioned off.
2. I want to trim my portfolio down, but at the same time like the names that I'm getting rid of...so simply letting them expire is not satisfactory to me.
3. I would like to get some additional income to buy some furniture when I move out in the next few months.
4. I like trying something unique. Not everyone can get approved to Fabulous's wholesale account, and therefore a lot of people are out there registering names for more than I do (even those with regular Fabulous.com accounts). These auctions allow you to get some great drops before they drop for much less than what a backorder costs, and maybe even less than what their own registrar charges them for registration! Most other people sell their expiring names for $5+, after which you either need to quickly complete a transfer (if you even have that time) or renew with the registrar the name is at. In the end, you spend more money than you have to.
