I just hate to see stuff like this, but there's an xbox auction on ebay where i'm sure everyone is being misled. The letter O is actually a zero. The auction is at $500. If you are going to pull a stunt like this, please state it in the auction what the characters are.

It is aggravating - But as always .... BUYER BEWARE is the rule of thumb .....

Do your homework and research before bidding .....

Yep Caveat Emptor...

Good thing Synthetic, the bidders should know... perhaps even ask it as a queston so it will be displayed on the auction page

What really bugs me is the auctions that have UBER UBER UBER fine print.

Next thing you know they'll be putting disclaimers in the HTML comments.

What I hate is $10/$15 Shipping/Handling charges for a Domain name
and I know some NPer's do it , but it is a little irksome.

But sometimes the shipping charge is the only way they make profit. Alot of names go for under $reg fee so you have to make a profit somehow. Its annoying but its understandabe. IMO

Sorry - But It is never understandable ........ There are no Handling or Shipping fees on them PERIOD ..... It's just a way to get Cheap listing fees on Generally Sub-Standard Names -OR- to trick people into bidding on a Name without reading the fine print.

I hate that mess as well - But as I've said already "Buyer Beware" - If you rush in without looking or asking Questions .... Shame on you as the buyer !

I just wish there was another auction site with the same pull as ebay. Im sick of the snipers and non paying bidders.

Then place a starting Bid and/or reserve .
Selling too low has always been one of the risks of an auction

That has nothing to do with eBay . You will always get it in any auction.

I hate sellers that use inflated shipping/handling prices on items also.

in fact, i never ever ever have shipping/handling on any of my ebay auctions (non domain related auctions, ofcourse)

I just calculate the possible shipping in the starting price of my item. In fact i get more bids when they see that there is no shipping/handling fees. Good selling point ;)

and if you don't sell it ebay will charge you a bigger listing fee, and of course if you sell it you will have a higher final price fee

I never see what is the objection to sniping. If an item is at $50 and you will pay up to $200, then why put up that price for someone to chip away at? The objections just come from sellers who want more.

As much as he is an ass, it is pretty clear they are not o, but are really 0. I do feel he should disclose it though,

besides the fact that its got a number in it how does that increase its value besides the fact that its rare...?

Sniping is used so that there is no "bid war" and the other guy will bid too slow to counter. Thus you get an item for cheap.

not cheap but cheaper (above the starting price) ...no problem with that....unless you are the one who got sniped and hoped to get it cheaper than me. If you want to defeat the sniper then set a higher maximum figure.

I don't think there is any excuse for people putting a big charge on shipping and handling. I have had it before where i have been charged $20 for shipping and handling, and the product came in an old box from an electronic item. The postage was only $3.00. Thee is no way everything else costed that much.
