Happy 2008 :)

first time it happens to me, I put for sale a LLLL.com on eBay , just one since August 2007 , and what does happen?

Here the auction where you can see the bidding history:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...sid=m37&satitle=290198293537&category0=&fvi=1

Buyer with 22 positive feedback (100 %) apparently from Cork , Ireland....not only does not pay immediately.....I sent him an invoice yestarday 1 hours after the end of auction....and today the eBay user does not exist anymore :'(

Sorry, we encountered a problem. Please see the details below.
User ID invalid
The User ID you entered was not found. Please check the User ID and try again.
Note: If you only know the eBay member's email address, you must first look up their User ID. Learn more about this policy.

So, what do I have to do now? Relist it , second chance offer or what?

Thanks

wait a minute:

something is wrong....in the auction listing the buyer username was "fotofap"

while I sent an invoice and it`s username appears to be "annmefi" , if I click on his username , eBay says it does not exist. While if I click on "fotofap" it shows me his profile and can see that lately he paid Yofie too.

I`m confused.

He is still there I would worry about it, it has only been a few days, you can send a follow up through ebay in 7 days time if still no payment. It would be best to wait at least 7 days though before offering to others

thanks , but the weird thing is that in the invoice the username appears to be different....same feedback, is it possible that it`s an eBay bug? I must be lucky this week.....first Sedo`s servers now this one...nothing works fine :yell:

Waiting 7 days is not an issue as long as I know what`s going on.

Yes is definately possible that it is an ebay bug, I would report it here I think: http://cgi1.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SiteMessageDetail&category=5&threadId=232#232

and report behaviour. but go to live help on the home page would be your best bet (top right hand corner of homepage)

It should not matter as he once was anmefi and when he purchased the domain he was using that best just send him a message to his new id

Also he has purchased alot of items I have just checked

To view what he has purchased/bids log into your ebay account

Click Advanced Search on the top of the page

new page Search: Find Items

On the left side of the page click items by bidder enter his user ID fotofap CLICK Include completed listings (last 30 days)

Now just send a message to a few of the sellers were he has bought domains from and just ask if he is a slow payer.

Good luck :)

the buyer seems okay to me - they won one of mine about a week ago, wrote after two days that they are waiting to have PayPal lift spending limits which requires verification via charging small amounts to credit card which takes 3 to 5 business days ... all of which I have been through myself with PayPal.

About 1/2 of my buyers pay instantly.
About 1/4 pay within 36 hours.
The rest have taken a few days, I think the longest wait (without any correspondence to explain) was something like 5 days. (And that one just recently followed up maybe 10 days after paying to actually provide the info necessary to transfer the domain!)

I wouldn't worry about this one.

He had emailed me the same thing. He sent two or 3 emails to follow up etc. He did pay for two yesterday. In order to leave feedback, you will have to go into the Auction Page and not threw My Ebay due to the user name change.

The whole situation made me a little fishy as well, but we will see. With the changing of user names is never a good thing, so I hope no chargebacks are instore. He has yet to pay for one of my auctions, but I did push 2, once he paid for those.

Well, Paypal provides about ZERO protection to a seller, unless there is a tracking number with a physical package... I have went threw that a couple times already. I provided tons of info on the push, whois screenshots etc with them not helping at all.

So if a chargeback happens, your pretty much screwed. With that being said, a chargeback can happen with in 30 days.

REMOVED at VTEC's request.

Plus, the more I look into this....... The more I am not liking it.

The paypal payment is from: Karol Zietara

Shipping address does not match name for one.

Wojciech Bielanski

Military Road, St. Lukes

The whois does match the shipping address.

Many thanks James, I`ll think twice before to push anything....maybe by the time I have to push he will already done some chargeback to earlier sellers. :td:

other dots come to my picture, look at his first purchases :

small purchases to gain quickly feedback.....it really does not look good.

I just wrote the other day in my Blog , about this tactic used by scammers.

No problem! I hope for no chargebacks, but it would also be nice if the registrars could help out a little if you provide proof. They always say they can't do anything about it.

BTW, it's Jamie, as James is Jim, but could be Jamie. My real name is Jamie though. ;)

Hopefully everything works out for you italiandragon.

In reading through yours and Yofie's recent ebay experiences, it makes me want to tighten up my sales terms, ie: Seller reserves the right to relist item if Buyer does not make payment within xx hours (or require immediate payment which I'm not sure is applicable to domains). Also could state in the terms that the Paypal verified address/email must be identical to the account at the registrar in which you are pushing the domain and Seller reserves the right to cancel the transaction and issue refund (-4% to cover fees) if these terms are not met.

I don`t think that by doing that you`ll be totally safe and also the more you limit your sales terms and the less bidders you may get, unfortunately the real problem is PayPal that sucks.

Very good point NameCharger! I don't even remember what my auctions say anymore. lol I guess I could check it and update. I am not listing that much on eBay right now anyway but for future auctions, it would be a good idea to have something close to what you stated!

putting "Immediate Payment Required" which is only for BINs (and which can apply for domains) is a good way for a fast payment ... but it could limit buyers since sometimes CCs don't have enough funds and need a transfer from the bank (which can take 2-3 working days)

(check the eBay page on "Immediate Payment Required")

CC chargebacks can occur for many days after the purchase (eg. 30 days as Yofie said) but depending on the bank can occur even more than that , I have read somewhere that some banks allow chargebacks up to 60 days (or even more)

lastly , I think if you refund the whole amount the PayPal fees are also voided , ie. the buyer gets the full amount back and the seller does not pay fees ... (partial refund is probably the same)
