just needed to vent a bit

i have a very popular short supply item on ebay and it was canceled.

why?

because i provide other payment options besides paypal. i accept money orders and cashiers checks.

- To ensure buyer protection, PayPal needs to be the only accepted form of payment.

this really isn't fair. frankly, i allow money orders because there are a lot of people that don't like pay pal..... and now this policy excludes those people. not only that, but it forces me to pay those high paypal fees.

it's one thing to say that paypal needs to be an option, but to say that it has to be the only option? especially with me being a well established seller with 100% rating

sorry to hear that Isis, they do anything for money these days. I only use them to buy domains now, every so often they have good ones. I stopped selling around april (the end selling fee rise to 8% hurt me) along with the paypal fees and listing fees, blah! Actually looking to transfer my FB to another auction site.

I read recently that eBay will be instituting many such changes in the coming months. One other change is they will apparently start insisting you start using eBay approved shipping materials only to ship your goods. I never sell on eBay anymore.. they're looking to go head to head with Amazon and court the big sellers rather than the little guys.

I sell from time to time, but mainly buy. I have grown to not like ebay or paypal for that matter.

if you want to sell via paypal then they're not obviously the choice to sell items on, you can sell directly from your website with your choices of payment.

who has the money makes the rule i guess. sorry to know that as well.

I heard that this was going to start in some countrys and eventally move to the USA, The new ebay is: only use paypal, big fees and no buyers getting negative feedback.

I like pay pal because it means i can ship next day, but i still think sellers should have a right to take other payment types

ebay is turning into a monoply.

Let me explain

Ebay owns paypal.

Ebay listing fees + paypal charges = more revenue.

Its a way of creating more profit for themselfs. Im sure that this operation will shut down alot of people from using ebays services. Im not, I prefer craigslist now..

This is stupid. Does anyone else know that if you use your credit card online and do something 'you arn't expected to do' they can foresee it as fraud and stop the transaction and probably freeze your card. How the &$%ยฃ does anyone know what you are likely to do and not to do...?

eg. If i frequently spend ยฃ1mill a month on sausages then decide one month i want to buy burgers instead of sausages apparently my card has been stolen and its fraud. Slight hyperbole lol.

I like getting paid with paypal it is nice to get money instantly but I always accepted moneys order also, monopolies suck.

I havenโ€™t sold on ebay since all the changes; I do like the no negative feedback for buyers though when I get paid I leave positive I never held feed back for ransom that is BS.

I was so buyers were scared to leave negative so a total slime ball could get away scamming and have no negative feed back so the old system didnโ€™t work IMO.

The more Ebay distances itself from the 'common user', the more space it is giving for a competitor to provide people with exactly what they want. And it will happen if Ebay continues on its current path. The opportunity is RIPE for the next big thing.

If ebay would just keep the fees down and keep scammer sellers off the network they would allways own internet auctions, But they just cant stop messing with those fees. When they introduced the gallery pic and charge 0.25 for something that I thought should be a standard free item, thats when i started to lose faith in them

One neg I got was from a seller I'd complained about and another neg came as a total surprise which said I was slow in shipping.. it was a holiday weekend (around New Years, I believe) and I got to the post office on the first available day. I'd already left positive for the buyer and got an undeserved neg in return.

I don't agree with the no negs for buyers rule but this is in line with their shift away from their current model. Ebay wants to go head to head with Amazon and shift away from the mom and pop collectibles auctions.

Ebay will allways be the collectable place to sell and buy in my opinion, thats the area i sold in the past. The fight with amazon is over other stuff like games, eletronics, semi new stuff. People play a game cartrage a few times then sell it used on Amazon now, used to be ebay was the only place a person would sell used things. But if you have a rare doll from the 1940s, you need passionated bidders to drive up the price, ebay the only place for that. Craigslist is also cutting in on ebays "kinda too big to ship" action, as postal rates keep going up.

Not just rising shipping costs but we'll see a change in eBay's shipping policies requiring us to use eBay approved shipping materials and shippers or face sanctions or penalties.

I think someone who came up with a niche auction site could comfortably compete in that segment with eBay.. if I'm looking for top dollar for a rare doll, what better place to go than a site that specializes in rare dolls?

And we also have established collectibles auction houses like Hake's in any case.

Something doesn't sound right. I usually list my ebay stuff through auctiva because I get unlimited free pictures there but also they have option buttons which allows buyers to pay through paypal, money orders, checks ect.. I just got a small check yesterday, I get them all the time from buyers who DO NOT WANT TO USE PAYPAL. This sounds strange. When you list an item through ebay, don't they have a checklist of payment options?

Ebay is really going down the drain with what they are doing. I got a negative from a person who says the item arrived broken and that I could care less. This came out of nowhere as we were in the middle of talks.
1. He did not buy insurance,
2. He is keeping the"alleged" broken item!!!
3. I can only leave a positive for him.
4. Mutual consultation is a thing of the past, we may have been able to work this out and get the negative erased but nope!
I contacted ebay and asked;
What if i bought a cell phone from you and gave you a negative saying that you sell damaged phones
ebay rep replied;
Did you have insurance?
I replied;
lol, hahaha no!
Ebay rep replied;
go to this link..........(talk to support)

I go and talk to support....
To make a long story short I said;
If a heavy box falls on my crystal glasses at the post office, it arrives at the buyers house broken, I get the negative saying I sell broken stuff, no insurance, no returned item, and no mutual consultation, WHAT?
Ebay support reply:
A bunch of canned BS, how can you answer that? you can't!

I suggested that the negative button should not be able to work until emails have been exchanged and to use a new button such as "problem" or "red flag" to indicate that there is a problem between the buyer and seller which can be read by the public but does not effect %'s or reputation until the buyer & seller discussed the issue.

Ebay is all messed up...

Buyers are now going to leave negatives for fun. The buyers now have a sense of relief that they dont have to fear a negative anymore, and now they will spinkle them around for any reason. I allways had 100 percent pos feedback, and i did what it took to keep it that way, but now i dont care. Its still 100 but i wont bend over backwards to keep it that way anymore. I now would rather keep the $$ than take a return....I am sure that helps the ebay experience lol

This all comes from ebays worrying about the buyer the most!!!!!!!

They think they have sellers cornered and in there pocket

I've all but stopped using E-Pay iI mean ebay. I've got 100% rating but when they took away the seller right to leave a neg it made me soooo mad I just gave up.

Me too.. the fees were bad enough but when they took away sellers right to "defend" themselves from capricious buyers, it was the last straw for me.

I donโ€™t know why everyone is so worried about 100% positive feedback.

When it goes below 94% you are in trouble but just a few negatives is not that bad, people usually read them and you can tell when a buyer is just a ass.

I never had any negatives but I had a few really bad customersโ€ฆ

And it would usually be over stuff that sold for almost nothing, like these guys prowl ebay for stuff that is selling cheap and then the try to get refunds on top of it. I would sell something for almost nothing and then the guy would complain so I would just refund the $4-$5 and he would still complain about 99cent shipping. The item would be just fine and what they ordered they were just trying to get stuff for free and probably do it all week. Then you read their feedback on other items they bought and it all says *positive* had a dispute dealer settled it or *negative* dealer send bad ______.

Itโ€™s just not worth it sometimes you spend time listing cheap stuff, mailing it then dealing with an ass.

So now if itโ€™s no going to sell for at least $10-20 I donโ€™t waste time with it.
