What do you guys think to this new extension ? For example green.earth or worldmap.earth ? What your opinions ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Well, when .earth was first available I liked it's prospects and potential given it's obvious world appeal and the vast and various names that could work well with .earth.

Believe I have two or three names, sentiments rather than science / environment based names.

While I don't follow that extension per se, checked and believe a bit under 3000 names have been registered to date.

Didn't check to see if there are any active sites using .earth or .earth sales.

Re your specific names cited above, IMO those are very appealing names if you are going to acquire .earth names or if you have acquired the names.

There are just too many of these new GTLDs, and they're still mostly unknown to people and general trading. This means no end user sales which means low/$0 value. It's this simple, if no-one is buying cars, the stock in your garage showroom would be worthless, whether old rusty bangers or Ferraris. And people selling bikes and bus passes are making a killing. Think about it ;).

The most movement happening currently are domainers investing "just in case" or super premiums etc. Or decent ones like I see some value in .club as it has good meaning, but .ninja, earth etc, are all just "some other" generic TLD without much use (or very limited) or good meaning.

There are some good ones, such as when the keyword ties in perfectly with the TLD (eg "Night.Vision" and "Travel.Agency"). In this case I think .earth might have some good names too, but general names like "shoes.earth" are not really worth anything at the moment, and I think never will because stupid name "Shoes.Earth" is...urkh...

Investments might pay off eventually, but it'll likely be a long wait yet (if ever!). Such as holding on to "green.earth" for 2-5 years or more and see if the new TLDs become more used. But whether this is wise or not depends on your financial status, the keywords and TLD, the registration cost, and renewal cost as some are very high and a 3 year investment can be mid 4 figures. $3K-$4K investment in a non.com is a very risky gamble IMO, for something that "might" be worth money "if" all these new TLDs take off.

Oh, and welcome to NP :)

To add to my above rant, if you're new to domaining, really steer well clear of the new TLDs and stick with .com and possibly .net if a good domain and bought cheap. Read through the forums to learn what "good" and "valuable" actually means (ie not a bright idea domain, those don't sell ;) )

Doesn't "world" already cover "earth" part in worldmap.earth? It is like AmericanAttorney.US

Currently I don't need an .earth domain but green.earth sonds very well.

In my home country Austria there is a company / brand / label, called GRUENE ERDE (german for GREEN EARTH) which produces biological goods like clothes, furniture and cosmetics - since 1983
You can find them at www.grueneerde.com

True, but imagine its worth in 20,000 years when we live on other planets ;)

That is a hilarious comment! )

And, also, .earth could become a cryptocurrency and then any domain on .earth shorter than 25 letters will be worth a fortune.

Ummm yeah... Not sure about this one. I mean... Just not my cup of tea. But hey I'm sure someone would like it.

I would register that before .Airforce :alien2:

You could get Airforce.Earth and then either sell domains like Agency.Airforce.Earth, Carrots.Airforce.Earth, AmericanAirforce.Airforce.Earth etc. or just wait until an alien invasion for the price of your investment to skyrocket.

The chances of that happening are much better than end users showing up for 4L.ws "chips" and yet, they are all bought out ))

By " appeal " I meant obviously everyone knows what the earth is and everyone shares the same earth.

Also there are so many occupations, sciences, resources, studies, activists etc etc that are dedicated to the earth .

And there are legions of pro earth activists, caretaker advocates watchdog groups, etc.

There is an " Earth Day " possibly recognized globally, I believe.

So there is a " built-in" very active pro earth possible name buying pool for the extension.

Maybe good.earth or something along those lines. There are few words to the left of the dot that match well with .earth.

Worldmap.earth is not worth reg fee. There is no market to sell the name and no point in developing it.

I have images.earth and apps.earth but think I've done my money on these ones.
