The DX7 was a synthesizer introduced by Yamaha in late 1983. Followed by an enormous success thus becoming big business and one of the synthesizer milestones it is well known by it´s fm-sound, still used mostly through many software synthesizers.

It was, in contrary to nearly all synthesizers at that time, fully digital which provided total stability. Also equipped with midi, the new control standard (musical instruments digital interface).

I was one of those guys who, when being young wished that I hade more of those small tiny electric trains with their remarkable small design.
