Drop list evaluation advice. Help!

I look at drop lists for about an hour a day and I hardly ever buy anything. Maybe I am being too picky but, I can't seem to find solid names that I feel stand out well.

Any advice on the process you go through when evaluating names from drop lists besides only looking for popular "keywords"?

You are not being too picky.
There are few domains in the droplists worthy of a new reg.

So do you feel that drop lists are a waste of time? Should I be focusing my time on aftermarket buys?

Trying to be efficent as possible.

Yes, focus on the aftermarket.
Or look at the prerelease lists instead (domains due to expire).

The droplists for pending-delete domains are low quality.
There are some decent domains to be found but the volume is such that you need to automate things as much as possible in order to spot them.
