Drop Catching Question

I’ve been wondering if SnapNames/Pool etc. try to catch domains
only on the calculated drop dates or also few days before?
Is it possible for domains to drop before the calculated drop date?
What could be the reasons for this?

Most sites that give you expiring domains have access to the raw zone files. If this is the case, the drops are right on and the date they say it will drop is the date it will drop.

maybe u mean that some of the company's have agreement with the registers that have the domains , so if its not a public drop its pretty much a close deal , so they actually can start auctioning it before it even drop , like namejet and godaddy do for example
