hi all,

I have a mental block over something that should be so basic. I'm designing a newsletter for the ICT Directorate of our university. I've already defined the site creating two folders for templates and graphix with the homepage named as index.htm, and they are in a folder called "My Documents".By the way the site name is called dir
However I utilized IIS, creating a wwwroot folder called C:/inetpub/wwroot/dir such that all changes are reflected in this directory. I then named my testing server as http://localhost/dir/index.htm. Yet when I checked to see the updates using local host, it says page cannot be displayed yet I've done everything correctly. I think!

Could you please tell me what's goin on?

thanx

kaz.

the link is http://80.88.158.47/index/htm.

first of all did you actualy copy your files over to the inetpub folder or are they still just sitting in my docs? (you cant open a page if its not there!)

did you try testing the connection to the server?

i think that you should try putting C:/inetpub/wwroot/dir as the site root rather than /dir/index.htm i use apache not iis so i dont know if it works the same.

I did copy the files. I can actually see them there. I think the mistake I made was that I copied them inside and outside the template folder. could that make a difference?

What I meant is that the files are in the Inet Pub and "My Documents Folder but outside and inside the templates folders

Template

I would check to make sure that all the content of your template that is needed got copied over to the server section (i.e. inetpub...ect.)

Dreamweaver adds some files depending on your settings to the folders that you can't see in Dreamweaver

Just a thought
