The problem with dreamhost is you dont get what you paid for. To learn more about there false advertising I suggest you read my thread here: http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?p=3312421#post3312421

My advice is pay alittle bit more so you get a host that cares abou tyou. Also that plan usualy has a 50$ setup fee so 60$ a year = roughly 5$

Also they use a custon control panel not the industry standard (cPanel) so its a pain in the arse to find a new host that you can transfer to if possible atall.

Interesting, I've never had any problems with Dreamhost's service. The initial year was cheap as dirt, but they get you with the renewals (~$125 a year). During the past 3 years I've had them, I've created maybe 6 support tickets. Each one received a response within a couple of hours, if not sooner. One click installs have always worked good for me, and the wiki isn't too bad either. People who LOVE cpanel should stay away, but if you're comfortable with FTP (like any good web designer should be) then go with Dreamhost, at least for the first year.

EDIT: I see, the thread you referenced was about the whole "unlimited bandwidth" debate that's been going on since the beginning of time, or at least since 1999. The way I see it, if you're building a site that becomes that popular, do yourself a favor and get dedicated hosting and pay a lot for it.

I suppose that he was trying to say few words about their overselling. That is not good issue so far

I myself have used DreamHost and never seemed all that satisfied with it. I relied on their email servers for my site but they were always down. I kept getting complaints from people saying they sent me emails but I never would get them. Their email server probably sent and received about 70% of my emails. The other 30% are missing or were returned to sender. I was very disappointed with that. Some might argue that I should have gotten someone else to host email. But when I am paying for hosting, why should I? Even the support tickets i sent, staff use to respond that server such and such was down and thats why there were issues. Maybe it was just the roll of the dice that I used them at the wrong time. But I don't think id ever go back to them.

Great!

Thanks. I was looking for something like this.

I remember that "777" code. They haven't change since 2000.

You do not have to pay for a dedicated server to get the quality that you as the consumer can expect from hosting, many shared hosting can provide you non oversold hosting at low cost.

In any case you can reach them and ask what do they have for the people from your region

For my high revenue sites: liquidweb and 1and1 dedicated servers...

For everything else: dreamhost. 2nd year now, great support (replies faster than 10mins) Max downtime is a few mins a month (for non-critical project sites doesn't matter) Also this depends on what server cluster they put you on.

I have about 320gig of website files and backups stored, few hundred domains hosted, I use quite a bit of bandwidth too and never a problem. I also paid the first year for $30, $150 for the second year. Have yet to find another shared host with this value and flexibility.

They have always had a bad rep, especially from other host companies bashing them since they don't have the resources to offer such plans. The bad claims from customers however are often legitimate, if you land in a server cluster that has a lot of downtime you can request to be moved.

Try it out Mike! Let me know what you think.

IMO dreamhost promises a bit much for what you pay. If you need that much space and bandwidth for your site, then you can probably afford to pay for it through a more business class host.

But take a good look before you settle down with these too cheap to be true bulk hosts. Currently if I visit the dreamhost webpage I see I can get hosting for as little as $6 per month. With unlimited space and bandwidth? Right.. just like your phone companies unlimited talk time is actually more like 10,000 minutes in fine print and isn't really unlimited.

But - I dare you to click on sign up today.. and note the options that show up on the next page. Already you have to pay an additional $4 per month if you want a unique ip address. Well what webmaster in their right mind wouldn't want a dedicated ip address to host their domain on? That's already included in the price at any no frills business host.

Hmmm, $9.95 for premium phone support? Well now you're up to $20 and for the $15 base package at most business hosts it would be assumed you're paying for phone support as part of your cost. Now suddenly your average business host is as cheap or cheaper than your starter dreamhost account.

Check your Cc statement

I think many people still feel the burn from the big double billing issue about this time last year.
