Interesting find. Like Mercedes-Benz, PWC has both the .com and .tv extension. Like Benz, they are using the .tv extension as their creative outlet.

This is a good sign for the tld as it signals to me that more and more big corporates are seeing dot TV as an extension of their web selves, not as something they should be using as their main web presence. That could mean more big players will have both .com and .tv sites operating in parallel. It also means that dot TV doesn't have to compete with dot Com - that there's room for both to operate side by side.

If this becomes a trend then we should see the value of dot TV domains start to rise.

I am positive that .TV will cut out a niche for itself and will rather go along .com than competing with it.

I talked to my teenage nephew the other week and we discussed a German music channel; Viva.tv. I asked him what he thinks about that this channel has a .tv extension and not a .com or .de and he asked me why it should have another one than .tv in the first place. He grew up with it, watches the channel since 2000 and never knew differently.

Shows that a whole new generation will grow up with this extension without questioning it.

F1.tv

Formula 1 (formula1.com) is using f1.tv and does not redirect it to the .com domain. They use both extensions with the same content.

He uses .de and .at first (for Germany and Austria) and if it is media rich content related checks out the .tv domain as well.

When I asked him why in this order and not the .com version he said that he is looking for sites in his native language, .com more often is in English but there are several companies using .tv in other languages than English.

Makes sense to me...
