Hi,

I received this email yesterday and I am unsure whether it is SCAM:
The forum seems to filter the keywords, so remove any[RM]-string where inserted.

Sender: Virgiliu STAN <[email protected]>
Subject: To all .Asia domain name registrants

email:
Code:
Dear .asia domain name registrants,

If you own .asia domain name(s) which are:
   - good, very good or premium, or
   - promising related to the Asian market;

and if you are interested to DEVELOP or SELL them, or just to contribute to the .asia general extension value, visit the Do[RM]t As[RM]ia Cl[RM]ub.

Our community is growing fast; we already count over 50 important .asia domain name owners and plan different common actions to achieve our objectives.

 Kind regards,
Constantin

What do you think, is it SCAM? HAve others in this forum received this also?
Finally has anybody signed up for membership? The website requires much personal info for registration and is unclear about whether membership does cost money or not.

Grateful for a reply, also via PM.

This is also my usual procedure.
But this one is too targetted to be SPAM, but could be SCAM nevertheless.

Background Check

Strange, this thread is found via Google, but inaccessible via this forum itself:
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/511939-top-1000-asian-domain-names-spam.html

It seems the keywords/posting is either deleted or at least locked.

But here it is for those uninformed:
http://74.125.39.104/search?q=cache...main-names-spam.html&hl=de&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=en

and here some more info about this character: Stan Virgiliu Nicolae

- His website was never updated since 2005!! http://www.vidaco.ro/
- there was some WIPO-action against him, see below:

http://www.google.de/search?hl=en&q="Stan+Virgiliu"

- "Development" procedure:
http://www.dotasiaclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=21&Itemid=22
Payment is needed for just 'domain development appraisal', this is just a new variation of the domainname appraisal SCAMs AFAICT.

- Partitipating should cost between 1000 and >10.000 EUR! (minimum)
http://www.dotasiaclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10&Itemid=7

A very profiting scheme for him/them... if anybody really partitipates. Too much upfront costs with no more than meager promises IMO.
