I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

A very late and truncated (blame the teachers strike) TBR Weekly .CA Picks for December 4 is finally online:

The .CA numbers increased to almost 9,000 domains, but most of the premiums were in the 3-letter category. Even many of the single-words that looked good are actually toss-backs from last year that will certainly jog your memory back to old TBR lists. In the end, we’ve whittled the Top Picks down to a quartet of LLLs featuring...

That's a very nice price and certainly one to promote for future .CA sales.

And to think the original owner didn't think it had a "ghost" of a chance to hit that price. :woot:

Late to the party, so I didn't participate. But I saw someone bid $1,100 for something on the Namespro.ca TBR interface today. Is there a big name being dropped today?

TEL.ca or SCN.ca are the only two I can think of.

And the earliest hit for NamesPro was 81, so they obviously didn't get what they wanted.

Yeah, must have been a LLL.ca. Looking at your list, GRL.ca is pretty decent if you read it or use it as a substitute for "girl"

The weirdest selection this week was definitely

ns1763.ca

in 5th spot, and as this was from an existing site, I am wondering if the owners bought it back or someone got it for the traffic - only time will tell.

Ask and you shall receive.

To Be Released (TBR) .CA Results & Leftovers for December 4:

The TBR list increased to almost 9K this week, but there was a real lack of premiums in the single-word and multi-word categories, with most of the top targets being aged 3-letter domains. This dropped the TBR results back quite a bit but there were still 86 domain selected, including notable Top 10 picks like...

Okay, for URL forwarding on WHC.CA, it's quite convoluted, as its obvious their entire system is designed around hosting and the domain side is basically featureless.

1) Manage Domain - then hit Advanced DNS Manager
2) You need to activate Domain Manager Basic (it's apparently free)
3) Use Domain Manager Basic to forward URLs
4) You need to Activate the DMB feature for every domain you own.

:xf.cool::xf.cool::xf.cool:

Quite the user-friendly system, huh?

They have the exact same control panel as canspace except they add some gradient colours and canspace uses red.

I saw a couple more hosts use that control panel and I can tell you it pretty much sucks. As soon as you try to do anything with 500 domains or so it always fails. Forwarding is pretty convoluted, heck even godaddy does it better.

Back in the day (ancient times) the best control panel I ever saw wad at domaindirect, which then got hoovered up by hover, which is really tucows. The Hover control panel tries to be over simplified and basically does nothing really well.

For me... cPanel does the trick, screw all the different control panels the hosting companies use and give me pure cPanel any day.

Good job, and I noticed that DynaDot can hit near the top when they feel like it.

I find he whole list a lot more egalitarian this week, rather than MyID and Siber taking 1-10 like they used to.

It is the date Cape Breton became part of Nova Scotia, so maybe related to that?

GRL seems to have a lot of possibilities. GRL.ca is the exact name of the Global Real Estate investment fund, but doubt they are getting the domain name. There is a Grain Research Laboratory but probably not pay much for it, but who knows. Wikipedia tells me there is a girl band by that name that includes Canadian content in an international group. I am wondering if it is possibly a library like ours is on GVPL. GRL PWR is used for Girl Power in a Canadian group. Interestingly all three of .com, .net and .org are for sale in GRL. Oh well, enough speculation, we can find out in coming months, unless it was just a domain investor :xf.grin:.

Can confirm that WHC has the worst domain management portal that I've ever used. No bulk-edit? Also, you have to individually activate the "Advanced DNS manager" for each domain. So strange.

Looks like they've since altered the $1 domain offer to 1 per customer, as well.
