I see the domain name buycannabis.ca is now listed for $388,888 about $500K CDN

Someone thinks they got the deal of the century.

haha. I wish those places wouldn't even accept ridiculous listings like that.

aba.ca is at $500 at Sibername right now.
grow.ca had a minimum of $5000 just before the TBR. Namespro also had it up to $5000. MYID had several bids for it as well.

I'm hoping we have a new player in the TBR space.
Definitely, but there is something we might forget in all this - TBR registrars like MyID, Siber, POOL, etc, are *supposed* to be buying these domains for end users, and tailoring their server requests towards buyer interest and bid amounts rather than how much they think they'll get i

I realize that it probably doesn't happen like it should, but we're talking like MyID is eBay and Siber is Amazon (maybe they are?), with each trying to get the most lucrative inventory to resell without any regard to customer orders.

All domain auction houses are the same, profit first, customers last.

Willing to keep the domain for years.
Cannabis in Canada is still in it's infancy.

Welcome seller, This was one of the first domains to close in auction, there wasnโ€™t much of a fight for the auction in the end. Only issue is provincial regulators are keeping the online, and other lucrative outlets for themselves. If that wasnโ€™t that case you might be onto something, but regulations are tight.

Grow
Is a bargain at 5k

Ban?.... Not sure how much commercial worth it would have. I personally would not pony up on it.

Of course - Trudeau hates small business and entrepreneurs (check his tax record) and his only reason for legalizing marijuana was to pay back the "big tobacco - big pot" donors to his campaign.

It's amusing that some people don't understand this about Trudeau - he was sitting on the Queen's lap as a baby, hanging with oil billionaire's kids as a toddler, hob-nobbing with US and Canadian royalty every weekend, and was a corporate shill before he got whiskers - so of course he's going to reward "big business" whether that's through insane immigration levels to raise our consumer base (Canada is a housing/banking fee/Tim Hortons economy), forcing his Attorney General to bend over for SNC Lavelin, illegally pushing, then buying, a pipeline through Native land, or hammering small business at every opportunity.

The guy was born with so many Silver Spoons in his mouth that he couldn't talk until he was 5, and that sheltered view of the world is extremely obvious in both his policy and his total lack of accountability.

This may slightly be off topic but still .ca related. Does anyone know what happened to Ebenezer Thevasagayam? Has anyone here heard that name before? He use to be a huge catcher just over 10 years ago with .caโ€™s.... As in he was better than Myid but he used a different registry. I forget the name of the registry but it seemed that they were all caught for him and only him.

Didn't he sell out his main portfolio to Yellowpages and other companies?

I wasnโ€™t aware of that. All I know was that he owned some really good generic .ca names.

I emailed him recently but no response back.

Thatโ€™s a flashback nafti....you are right, he was quite prolific in the .ca field(maybe still is under another name?)
There was a time that a .ca domain showed up in my NP account that I hadnโ€™t bought and when I looked it up it was in his name. I contacted NP support and apparently someone had given my account as the one to push to by mistake so they just moved it to the right account. I donโ€™t remember the name (it was at least 10 years ago)but it was pretty good as I recall which is what got my attention.

Last time I saw Eby (Ebenezer) was at Namescon a couple years ago, he was there with his son. He's notorious for not responding to inquiries. I'm pretty sure he won't respond unless you make a corporate-end-user type of offer he's willing to accept.

It was Peter Maxymych (Emall) that sold the chunk of domains to YP.

Yup I get 200 dollar offers about 10 to 20 times daily now.

Always starts the same..... it's a .ca, it's not like it's a .com so it's not worth much.

I respond to any offers over 1k for domains

I only respond to offers over 5k for one word domains.

I try to be polite and say it's a good starting point but...

Latest offer I received was 1k for rule_violation by a VERY PROMINENT DOMAINER.
He of all people should know better than to offer that.

That's just stupid, as even crappy LL.CAs will still hit $3-$5K and yours is a premium combo.

Stupid offers happen all the time.... I just ignore it and see if there is a deal to be done as many times these are just feelers. Just my take. I try not to take it too personally.
