Those province codes were always in pending creation status, so you couldn't even change the nameservers as they were never activated.

Yep, but others like TOWN.CA and CITY.CA resolve.

Yes, city.ca has been kicking around for a while, and very dangerous given it has a purchase button on the lander.

I'd love to register cira.ca and park it :xf.love:

Yeah, just try it!

but I would have thought bang for buck it would bring home some more unqiues. I had the traffic monitored for a few days, lackluster to say the least. Not even a penny in PPC.

Nobody does type-in anymore, other than people looking to a) check availability of a domain or b) purchase a domain. There is some typo traffic when mis-typing in well-known sites like TWITTER, GOOGLE or FACEBOOK, but that's it.

But even Grandpa Jones goes to Google if he wants to find FISH-related sites instead of just blindly typing in FISH.CA like he's back in the mid-90's.

Best wishes to whoever has it. I see it is at CanReg who I would have thought, if it was going to be taken away, would already have done so. I use them and they seem very informed on all the .ca rules.

Someone here read this thread and then registered it - just visit the domain and see :)

But I'm betting (as mentioned in an earlier post) that city/town/ville/hamlet will be revoked since they are clearly listed as being restricted. I reg'd ville/hamlet - not that I thought they were super valuable but more just to see if I could... Other domains not explicitly listed such as county/region/culture/etc... may have a slightly better chance of surviving. Note that no one seemed to scoop up district.ca - it is back to being restricted - I didn't notice it wasn't reg'd until it was already restricted again.

I had actually noticed that some of these domains were showing as available in whois back on Jan 19 - I even had my registrar try and reg one for me but he said it wouldn't work and I quickly gave up, realizing that of course these domains were reserved/restricted and that their new whois was just messed up. I didn't realize that those whois results were foreshadowing the epic CIRA fail in the fury cut-over. If I'd have connected those dots back then, I'd have probably been lying in wait and clean-swept all those domains for myself! (only to of course lose most of them anyways).

Trust me, I scooped that one long before it ever hit this thread :xf.laugh:

Proud papa for a few days anyways :nailbiting:

I have 44 more of those unmentionables :sneaky:

I have a quick trigger finger

If only 2-3 make it through it will have been worth it.

Anyone taking bets on tomorrow's tbr? gonna go smoothly? Even if it goes smoothly at CIRA, I'm guessing that there's some chance that some registrars will still have issues since this will be their first attempt at TBR...

And just a tip, look at the registration dates on some of those LLL.CAs - many of them have been off the market since at least 2000.

CYS.ca, JPK.ca, KVC.ca, SJI.ca, YWI.ca, and WFM.ca may not seem like much next to ultra-premiums like KV.CA or TCP.CA, but there could be some pent-up demand out there over the last 18+ years, and for some, I am certain there is.

Nice NNN included

Nice NNN included

Yeah, it's a really good 2 weeks at the very top, with an LL, a NNN (no zeroes), and a premium LLL, along with some very nice single-words.

But then it drops off a cliff real fast.

So who do you think will take the LL.CA?

Odds are MyID (1:3), Sibername (3:1), Pool (5:1)

I would bet on MyId

Iโ€™m saying Myid. It will then sit and not resolve... Just like a lot of names caught at Myid.

Caught is the right word, like a fish in a net.

In another 50 years, I bet they mysteriously have control over maybe 80% of the unused premium LL and LLL supply. Once it goes to MyID it ain't coming out.

What does that mean, that they are buying internally for their own holdings?

We should also make some bets on whether the CIRA will melt down again this week.

Remember, they screwed up royally last week, and now we have almost 20,000 .CA domains coming up, with every Registrar in Canada firing up their servers to mass-pound on the CIRA systems like a thousand jackhammers.
