I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

No, I bought that from law office for $500, not the other way around.

Crap - my bad again :) I need to read more closely. Yes, now that I re-read it I see, you were working on behalf of the law office and bought the domain for $500 for them... That makes more sense. Sorry!

Personally, I think that customers should be able to cancel existing backorders, as the run never went through and there is going to be a lot of new and better domains hitting this week.

If not, plenty of opportunities for me, as I didn't have a backorder this week.

No worries, it was a pretty long-winded post and it's easy to get confused.

And that $500 was not only a great purchase for now, it's also a killer investment as I would bet it'd sell for mid 5-figures. It's a premium letter combo and several Canadian businesses use the same acronym. The .COM is also the primary site for a HUGE multi-national business, so that's gone forever.

Absolutely. Sounds like it was a complete win for them on all fronts.

Have gone on a buying spree and landed some pretty incredible .ca domains this week.

Have a number of bigger deals in negotiations as well.

At this point I have stopped purchasing all domains that are not one word ca's

In rare cases I will add acronyms

I have rlaw and jlaw and they get consistent low ball offers.
Cheap ass lawyers wont cough up the 5k asking price.

Please don't tell me you own those domains, I see no value in them whatsoever

Edit: Just spot checked and none of them are registered. So what are you trying to accomplish here?

Due to an error in the .CA registry, a domain you recently registered has been recalled as it was a restricted domain not available for registration.

The domain listed below was temporarily made available due to this error and has since been recalled.

Your impacted domain is:

· canadawest.ca

The domain was restricted as it was a conflicting domain name, due to the existence of an exact match of that domain name in the third level.

Any other .CA domains you have registered are unaffected. The .CA registry is now operating normally and we look forward to serving you in the future.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your time.

CIRA Compliance Team

That was $1 hit at rebel :xf.frown:
Still works randomly thru cira link.
I did do do due dilligence, but could find nothing before reggae like 3 days ago

The CIRA is all screwed up - just type in any domain with a provincial extension in their WHOIS and it says it's "available for registration".

In fact, any domain like this says the same thing, like: canada.on.ca

WooHoo, I'm registering them all!!

Too bad they wouldn't let me register RHC.ca... I always wanted that one.

I found where the canadawest URL is, but also found that it is being used as a virus/ransomware site and the CIRA should be advised of this.

Don't go there, but it's YT.

For some reason, while it was using rebel nameservers, my anti virus kicked in too. First time that happened. Maybe i blocked the warning after that point, or maybe that happens with domains with that status. It may have had nothing to do with rebel nameservers either
It shouldnt have any kind of history. There is no canadawest.bc.ca so what 3rd level did it conflict with?

I displayed it in the other post - I don't want to create an actual link and have people clicking on it.

BTW, I think this is occurring because the virus/ransomware site is in the process of being booted off, whereby canadawest.ca would then be available, but you might have struck too soon.

What's weird about these sites (especially something like RHC.ca) is that the person or company holding the 3rd-level can request the .CA and use that instead. Just from an asset POV, a 3-letter .CA would be worth more, as well as being shorter and easier to use in ads, business cards, etc.

Plus, I think Google hammers them on SEO, as I've had a very hard time finding some using the search engines.

OK yt.ca

YES dont go to that url, what a waste and hopefully several notifications to cira will rectify that. I just replied to the compliance email received CIRA Compliance <[email protected]> about the malware site.

As for voicing our concerns about the messed up drop list, and daily updates to it, plus all these other issues You mentioned emailing them, were members, were paying their salary and expenses.
Time to look into what out membership is about. @poing was going to run for a seat, and another gentleman was on here last 6 months talking about running in last election, cant remember his name

Typing at same time, sorry. I see what you saying, looks like same program on rhc.ca 3rd level
Is there a way to find out how many domains are .yt.ca and bc.ca on.ca
Summerhill.bc.ca is local winery. Good food, crappy domain name, I guess they too can apply to drop the 3rd level

I meant YT as in Yukon Territories, as in ON, BC, AB, MB, etc. It's a valid 3rd-level domain for .CA.

I think you know that are are just trying to also not put the full URL up for people to click.

As for the numbers, no idea - there used to be a lot at the beginning, as that was the standard way of issuing .CA prior to 2000, but most of them claimed the .CA when the CIRA came into effect. No idea how many stragglers are left.

did a gd check on a .ca,available,great.did a tm check, fine,ok.go back to gd and the name is gone, wtf? i think my initial gd search got somebody's attention.
maybe at CIRA.it's probably a top tier name that isn't available for everyday regging.i probably wouldn't have been allowed to keep it even if i had regd id the first time.-_-

Ahh.
Wonder if that explains the city/ ca hand reg someone posted about, I believe they were looking for an appraisal.
Noticed though, city was also registered on the same day on the third level (.on.ca) but at a different registrar.
All screwy.
