I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

For example, I dropped 2 domains that both went in the Top 15 this week. To me, these are tough sales with no real buyer path, but seeing those on the list probably got people thinking of sugarplum fairies and how much money they'll make.

Exactly, but it's just an excuse to raise prices, the same way gas immediately goes up when oil spikes, even though that new more-expensive oil is still on the boats waiting to go to the refinery.

They shouldn't, but do. Godaddy tried 14.99cad to transfer in for a few days, its back to 10.99
My boss is thrilled with a low loonie, foreign countries see our produce cheaper, though China, once our biggest consumer of fruits is now a huge competitor, as you can see by selection in walmart, a canadian company

WHC is a reseller of namecheap, what happens when they go to pay them off in CAD and they say that is not enough this time. We need an extra loonie, cause your 1.00 is only .73 .69 or .60

Stick to a registrar that is truly Canadian for warehousing your .CA portfolio. I have accounts all over as is necessary in this business, but I bring almost all of the .CA home to one registrar before renewal. Easier to manage, and if you get hit by the proverbial bus, it will be less headache for your heirs. And I get the best pricing all the time with no random price changes.

I'm 100% OK (actually thrilled) with the way CAD is going. A good chunk of income is in USD. My costs of living are all CAD. The majority of business expenses are CAD - but those that aren't are USD. So from my perspective, I'm either gaining on the USD->CAD exchange, or its neutral when paying USD bills with USD funds. What sucked was when the CAD was bouncing around par or worse for a couple years.

Now I'm going into a bit of a rant/tangent. I'm not sure how many people are aware of this as I've never seen it discussed. I believe there is way more threat to .CA prices from CIRA itself rather than from USD/CAD exchange rates... I bet CIRA will be raising wholesale prices again just because they can and no one is going to stop them. Their name is the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) yet they're opening new lines of business with your .CA funds that goes beyond their charter - which is obviously to manage .CA for all Canadians. Some of those lines of business actually compete against .CA. They're literally trying to help cities go register new gTLD's like .Toronto (reducing demand for your Toronto Geo domains) and as well as launching a platform to host other gTLDs (like .kiwi, who is their first customer). There is also their D-Zone DNS services (not provided for free to .CA holders, but paid for by your registration fees). And they are using your .CA money to do all of it. Seems like a major conflict of interest, no? And if running these side businesses is profitable, then .CA prices should have went down in 2018 rather than up - yet they didn't. And they likely never will. Anyways rant mode off
