Myid seems to spend all of their time and effort on the TBR because their CS sucks!
You would think all the money they are taking in on these TBRโ€™s, they would hire a couple of people to answer emails and phone calls!

But then you actually might be able to transfer your domains out of MyID with something short of a court order.

So who would be with me if we started an online petition to get cira to look into how myid has a lock on getting all the prime domains.

Iโ€™m in!

So who would be with me if we started an online petition to get cira to look into how myid has a lock on getting all the prime domains.

We launch an online petition, gather the signatures and send it to cira to investigate.

Unless anyone can think of a different approach.

We could also draft an email, get the proper department and have members send this email to cira until they respond. A couple hundred emails would probably go a long way toward getting this situation looked at.

So, I ran a little analysis of all TBRs for 2019. I decided to focus only on registrations occurring in the first 10 seconds of each TBR session, when the most premium domains go first.

There isn't a significant statistical difference in the success rates of any of these registrars. It boils down to how many registrars that each has at their disposal for TBR. MyID and Sibername capture 70% - and the other 30% is split between 7 other registrars - all at statistically similar rates of success based on how many registrars they have.

The only big statistical anomalies are FastWebServer and Pool. They have MANY more registrars at their disposal but they simply just don't have any success. I suspect they don't really care and haven't spent the time and effort to fine tune their TBR.

After the first 10 seconds, that's where you notice some differences. Sibername registers double what MyID does - probably because so many people avoid MyID in general. Basically, I think people are hoping to get a mid to lower tier domain cheaper anywhere other than MyID - they feel if they placed their order on MyID that the auction would get run up way higher than it would anywhere else. Then, and as many have noted, certain registrars come in towards the end and scoop up lots of domains with little to no competition.

So - personally, I think you're wasting time petitioning CIRA about MyID's success rate. Its the same as everyone else, they just have more registrars under their umbrella to utilize.

If you want to ask CIRA something, ask for some transparency during auctions. That's where I smell something rotten going on.

I think most people have an issue with the first few hundredths of a second, and how MyID is able to get the majority of ultra-premiums at this point.

At 2/100 of a second, the entire first TBR round was already done, and after only 9/1000 seconds in the run this week, MyID already owned the first 3 picks: BOLT.CA, WISER.CA, and TRAVELADVISOR.CA.

EEEEEEEEEEEExactly

The system seems rigged to me that the same company can consistently grab the top names. It should not be based on who can be 9/1000 of a second faster. You would think it should almost be like a lottery where registrars win at random giving every one of them an equal chance.

I'm open to anything other than the current system and I think we need to have cira investigate and make a few adjustments to how the process currently works.

like a race. 9/1000 sec , Bolt wins , everybody else looses . :xf.wink:

A bit late (again) but the .CA To Be Released (TBR) Results & Leftovers are online and you can all see how increased demand absolutely melted down some smaller Registars (cough*Baremetal*cough):

This weekโ€™s .CA TBR list was decidedly mediocre in terms of the quality and quantity of word domains, but there were some premium domains at the very top end of the scale. The overall results were mostly on target with our expected picks and the Top 4 selections were BOLT.CA, WISER.CA, TRAVELADVISOR.CA, and 234.CA.

Notice how all the Canadian Crypto domains are dropping?

I was talking about that a while back cautioning members against investing in crypto .ca domains. I have all mine scheduled to drop because there has been ZERO activity in my google analytics and I cannot see that changing, the market is just too small for canada to have dedicated crypto domains.

Now that most college students are in credit card debt collection status, and their too the moon analogy is like a bad dream there is not much support for crypto, especially from areas where there is no worry of mass inflation. Countries like Venezuela you can understand why you would want to own a more stabilized crypto, but most people in NA were chasing something they didn't understand, but purely for the story of the shiny object. Now when you hear stories of firms who held crypto for clients having no operational business plan, and founder goes missing in India with $200M in crypto, who wants to touch this modern day BRE-X.

I believe the blockchain has function in terms of fractional ownership of real estate, art work, etc... and there is no reason it should take 2-3 days to clear payments etc... but it is very hard to change one of the oldest monetary standards of modern time, to many big time losers, and to many small time winners for the powers that be to want to tip the scales.

Bolt is nearly at $2K, somebodys seem to like it very much.

Yes, great name for home automation, courier service, etc...

I think I saw XUM.com around $61 in the last 15 minutes.

I did a quick look and there are a lot of different industries - web design, security, electricians, gates & fences, batteries, media, real estate development, etc.... and actual bolt suppliers and manufacturers.

You get a couple of these guys bidding against domain investors and it could go $4-$5K.

there is a lot of crypto interest and activity in canada

with new atms it seems almost daily

but.. then there comes an exchange where owner dies and it doesn't help

i had a few names.. still do.. and no interest either.

but... maybe we're all wrong and its all about the future.. not about the here and now.

i guess most people will drop them... then probably this guy gonna pick it all up hehehhe
came across his site via some random lander recently.. lol

https://blockchainnames.com/tokens/

a lot of good names there.. in com too.. but the amounts of .ca in various categories are pretty mindblowing

Alcy.... let me give you a scenario

You go and register multiple banking type of domains hoping to sell them to a bank. Let's say you're trying to get a direct hit on the name of a possible future bank. Now pretend thousands of other people are doing the same thing. Now ask yourself how many banks do we have in Canada? Now ask how many domains do we have a use for?

Same with crypto.... in the end it will be about 5-10 companies (I'm being generous) that will dominate that industry and all the so called crypto domains will be worthless.

Now if you're dealing in the .com you may still have a chance because there could be 10 in multiple countries that will dominate. However in Canada with the .ca the chances of a successful hit are marginal at best. If you own a big crypto portfolio you will have most of it go unsold. You just have to look at namepros as an example to see domainers are buying crypto domains and end users are marginal compared with the sheer amount of crypto registrations.

I have some really good short ones and not even one person landed on ANY of them according to my google analytics and I have had them for a couple of years. Once I drop them they will become part of the TBR and who do you think will register them but another unfortunate .ca domainer.

My opinion is unless you buy the .com a crypto domain is only valuable if you have a direct or near direct hit and even then why would someone want it for Canada when crypto is worldwide. Bitcoin.com/ca etc
