I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I love the cat and mouse game of when an inquiry comes in from someone trying to be anonymous and play dumb. "Hi, I see you're not using this domain, would you sell it to me for $300?". I notice the email address isn't from gmail/hotmail/etc... My spidey senses are tingling, so I check whois. Domain registered today, just to make this inquiry. And the game is afoot!

Without a doubt, the absolute suckiest domain on this week's TBR:

fellatio.ca

I'm here all week, try the veal!

Thanks to the NP member (here in this group) who reported another sale to namebio. See image below. It's the second from the top, which adds another sale to the month of July. Congrats, and thanks again!

Thanks, and it took me a second to figure out it's LowestRate.ca, and I initially just saw the "Lowes" part - guess who's been doing too much home reno work lately?

Is anyone here selling PPE online in Canada? If so, please PM me.

If you haven't read this interview, or don't know who Nat Cohen is, this is worth a read. He is the sole reason I got into domains and have known him for almost 20 years now.

A quiet week this week for MyId regarding the top 10. Only managed to grad 1. It’s nice to see other Registrars join in on the fun. I believe the Dot Ca Registry even grabbed 2 in the top 10.

But they grabbed the big one, Matrix.ca, that will probably yield an auction price higher than the rest of the TBR list combined.

So I had a rough week in the mines, and only made it up to 10 letters on the list. Just no time or energy to go any further, but when I looked at the TBR Results, one name really stood as a nice value, right near the end:

GoldenHeart.ca

And you got it, 11 letters. :xf.cool:

Pandemic + Vacation made me lose all track of time and completely forgot about TBR

Hope you guys got some good deals

Not here, and there is still a lot fo CERB money floating around...

I got 1 domain outright, MyID won Matrix, and then go outbid on the other 8, one of which was Racoon.ca, which is quickly dashing up the price-tree.

Just an FYI, as the friendly neighborhood @esdiel was king enough to point out, the racoon.ca domain at auction is actually an alt-spelling of the correct raccoon name for the animal. So watch out being pulled too high up that tree.

That's crazy. I've seen that word probably a million times in my lifetime and never realized the correct spelling. Typos are a MFer...made that mistake once at GD Auctions. It was a small mistake (~$50usd), but I'm sure the other bidders appreciated me saving their butts

Safe to say that domain isn't on auto-renew :)

I believe there was member here last year who bought internet.ca..... Or so he thought. It turned out to be lnternet.ca. But lowercased looked like “lnternet.ca”. I think he thought he hit the jackpot!

Yeah, that Lnternet.ca is a real bad penny and pops up every few years.

And I think one reason why Racoon is making hay at auction is because companies have also mispelled their names using the same format. :-P

That Dewar.ca is kinda irritating, as I forgot to try to register it that week (its on my TBR Picks and my personal picks) and we all know who picked it up. Another forum member PM'd me about missing it that week, and for those who don't know, it's the last-name a prominent Ontario family with many business interests.

Congrats on the sales RLM!

From Wiki:

Marion Dewar, CM was a prominent member of the New Democratic Party, mayor of Ottawa from 1978 to 1985 and a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1986 to 1988.

Needless to say, with those connections, there are a *lots* of Dewars running around Ontario with businesses. LOL

Yeah, I tried hard for Dewar...not hard enough I guess

Congrats to the seller, nice sale in a short time. Would love to know if it was outbound, inbound, etc

@DomainRecap I was the member who PM'd you, but I quickly sent you a follow up saying it was my mistake. You didn't miss it, it was in your list all along. I was the blind one

And just for posterity, Dewar.ca went 96th of 142 that week.

I guess I was a penny short and day late.

There is a maximum amount of NUANS results showing for both "racoon" and "raccoon", surprisingly enough.
