So I registered BidJump.com a while back. I thought it would be a cool DN for a site that featured all the big auctions of the day. The auctions with the biggest "bid jump" or the auction with the most views and so on.

Then I saw the other day that ebay is doing exactly what I visualized. Here http://www.mpire.com/ebayPop.ivk
I knew I should have .. jumped .. on that idea.. LOL This happens to me alot, I get great website ideas.. always think they are too complicated for me too build or fund, then see someone doing something similar 1-2 years later.

Does this happen to you?

Ohh well.. Maybe they'll buy BidJump.com.. (fingers crossed)

well, doesn't matter if someone else have done it, just continue on with your idea and make it better and different.

In life there will always be competitors,
afternic vs sedo .
Windows vs linux.
PC vs Mac
Godaddy vs Namecheap.

"too complicated for me too build" -> how about going into Contest Section of NamePros, it wouldnt be expensive to find some script programmer, designer ...
it can be chaper than $200, which is not great investment

Also consider elance or similar services, many people there will work even on a limited budget.

I know how you feel, but competition is just part of the business.

You can find some PHP coders trying to build a portfolio that could do it for a resonable fee. Just take your time, contact many, and hopfeully find one.

GetaFreelancer is where I find people to do most of my development. A good idea, is worth the time and money (see sig!) Thats my baby, and even though she cost a pretty penny to build - she was worth it!
