Guys, I am looking for your opinion and review about DomainScope tool launched by Verisign.

Has anybody used it? Using it daily? How do you use it?

Thanks

MM,

To my experience, it is to be taken with a pinch of salt (Ok: a truckload of salt). The traffic figures are not verified for being as real human visitors as it's NXD traffic without any scope of Javascript verification. Hence it it includes bots, spiders (..and mice, cats, dogs..what not).

It is way off the track in its default form. However, if you manage to filter out the fake traffic from china and russian continent, you may extract some good things out of it. More than 80% of traffic figures are spam request from China, Russia and US proxies in that tool.

One more thing: The 7 and 30 days figures are not recent. They are outdated by at least 75 Days.

Thank you PV for the review.

From your review it seems the DomainScope tool and data is mere stunt by Verisign in order for us domain name investors to take it at face value and start registering .com's .net's .cc's and .tv's left right and center by just looking at the numbers presented by them.

There is no guarantee or verification of the stats offered and should not be considered at all while considering these names.

Have you bought any names using DomainScope? Since you are known for traffic domain names.. let me know :)

There was a time when I bought 1500+ names - courtesy verisign and their tool. I was with them since the very first day of launching. It was a big learning curve for me about traffic though.

Ouch, what was the experience out of those 1500 names and how accurate was the data?

I mean, how many names were with traffic?

Mostly a burnt hand experience for me however I managed to recover my investment + some profit out of it.

First of all, the traffic from China, Russia and US was nothing at best. Europe although is better in terms of insights. Although the traffic is not at all as per the figures - but if it shows 1000 visitors from europe, you can assume at least 5-10 real visitors. Whereas with china/russia/US - if it shows 75K visitors - you can even get a big fat zero. That was harsh for me.

The key is recognizing the real and fake traffic pattern. For starters, diversity is good ;)

I've used this tool for hand registrations and it's been relatively lucrative when adding in research from Keyword Planner, Trends, etc.

I have not found a name with traffic that can't/is unable to recoup above registration fees.

Don't use one tool or stop research at their figures. The more you look at the name; the better stats you'll get, leading to an ultimate profit.

Thanks guys, really helps!!

One thing That I am unable to figure out is traffic numbers in the tool. It shows traffic score, how do you get traffic figures in it?

@Soofi go high, but don't take that as written in stone that it has/d high traffic.

Do research using other tools to determine this.

Once that's done, you will find gems buried that passed by other domain investors.

Guys sorry to re-open this thread back:
Can yu give some tools to do traffic analysis.. I just use google adwords..
I am ok to explore other tools if they are real killers. As David said I wanted to try 2-3 tools and tally the results
