Hello

Could anyone tell me if it is recommended to register domain name through yahoo or not?

Thank you

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I did it because they had a sale (something like 4 bucks) and regret it.

After transferring it to a new registrar they charged me for another year.

I'd go with someone else. Try NameCheap.

Is that the only minus with them?
If it is, i guess it is worth because that would be all together $8, and if i change registrar that would mean that i sold the name.
Is that good thinking or there is something else?

Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. I highly recommend Namecheap, you pay a dollar or two extra but it makes up for it with the control panel that's full of features and excellent support. :)

As stated above you get what you pay for. So I would suggest you to pay a little extra and go for a reliable registrar like Namecheap as tranferring a name from Yahoo to another registrar is a pain. If you plan to develop the name and have no intention of transferring or selling the name, only then go for Yahoo.

I boycotted NameCheap, I register adomain name .cn at namecheap with US$28.88. They charged fee sucessfully.
After 3 days, they disable my account without any reason. I contact to the support many times but all replies I received was asking me leave my tel number. Untill now, I lost my account, my domain name, my money without any reason. My money was gone out.

Nobody gets there account disabled for no reason, just like no one gets banned from adsense for no reason. I am sorry but it bugs me when people say

"Google disabled my account for no reason! I wasn't doing anything wrong!"

I am sorry but there isn't a board technician at his computer saying "Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe".

Same thing with a domain registrar as well.. If they say leave your phone number why not so that you can get a straight answer directly from them on the phone.

I did take a yahoo domain for the same reason and after the year I made the transfer to DynaDot without hasle or extra charging from Yahoo.
