Would someone be kind enough to update the "domaining" definition on Wikipedia? I think it could be a heck of a lot better, and should be cleaned up a bit.

I'm sure everyone would give + rep to the kind NP'er who would update it. :)

Paragraph 1 begins:
"Domaining is the business of buying, selling, developing and monetizing Internet domain names."

Paragraph 2 begins:
"Domaining is the business of acquiring and monetizing Internet domain names for their use primarily as an advertising medium rather than for resale."

Why does it require a second paragraph?

I think the point GF4444 is making is that parts of the article are repetitive, not to mention incomplete.

As any serious domainer knows, there are a lot of moving parts to this business. The Wikipedia article does not currently do much justice to our business and/or put it in as positive a light as could be possible with a more comprehensive account of domaining.

And yet, whenever anyone searches for "domaining" at Google, that article is right at the top of the heap.

My comment was a little tongue-in-cheek, Bob. It seems to me, the first sentence of the first paragraph (as quoted above) sums us up quite well. I haven't visited wikipedia page.

That's what I learned when I edited one entry before with links to verify what
I'd posted on it. Oh well...

Thank you, dkh.

That was the point I tried to convey. :bingo:

There were a couple misguided/ignorantly opinionated sentences which are now gone from the text and a few words added to read: "Although controversially and mistakenly compared to cybersquatters, Domainers differentiate and legitimize themselves by..." ;)
