2023 is wrapping up; and there's no better time to recap on 10 LOGICAL THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND when in pursuit of your next domain buy, sell, trade and/or build-out. (Note: This list isn't exhaustive; and shouldn't be considered investment advice per say.) By the way, no bots were used, or harmed, during the authoring of this post. Let's go.

1. Domain investing rewards foresight.

In domaining, it pays to look ahead and thus be forward-thinking. The past data matters; but the future has new chapters to be written that data won't influence. Continually refine your investment approach with this in mind.

2. Domaining politics are real. Very real.

There's a layer of domaining politics that steer the narrative around domain worth for most investors. These politics continue to heavily influence the overall industry and market sentiment for every single TLD.

3. It pays to be an 'EXPERT STUDENT'.

Life is about learning and growing. The moment we stop doing both is the moment we stop living. The goal shouldn't be to achieve veteran domainer status just to cement and wield your bias. Evolve.

4. Ai is here for the long-haul.

It's easy to get entangled in the notion that domaining is solely what YOU make it. Honestly, it's what technology allows it become. Especially as it relates to Ai. Don't undermine Ai's power to shift everything.

5. Trailblazing means being challenged.

There's only a handful of domainers who step outside the bounds of playing it safe with their investment approach. If it's in your DNA to chart NEW paths, use the criticism of naysayer-domainers as fuel to advance.

6. 'The people' determine the trajectory.

Companies/organizations shaped the forum for domain-use up until recently. Now, the everyday consumer has the power to give relevance to domain names and the industry as a whole. They can even withdraw it.

7. NEW domain utility will be a savior.

Email and websites as we know them are on their way out. This means domains as we've come to know them MUST evolve in order to have their purpose refined; and their inherent value consistently enhanced.

8. Registrars are also the competition.

Any registrar with a portfolio of domains is in the game to win.....for themselves. It doesn't mean you won't be 'allowed' to score a few baskets; but your interests will always pale in relevance to their objectives being fulfilled.

9. Pay no mind to 'embellished offers'.

Don't be fooled, nor discouraged, by the whopping number of domain offers shown on social media. Just remember an offer made doesn't equate to a price paid. Even when the offer is made to self. (Hint hint.)

10. Distance yourself from the 'herd'.

Domainers are buyers among buyers, sellers among sellers, traders among traders and builders among builders. Distinguish yourself by being a giver; and not just when it's convenient. The universe will thank you.

If you've made it this far, thank you for taking a moment to read. Like years prior, 2024 is a grand opportunity to do, and become, better. This is regardless of whether your portfolio nets a favorable return in the grand scheme of things. Should you find this post insightful, feel free to comment, like, share and maybe even acquire a domain.....from anyone.

Take care.
