Domain Transfer (.com, .net) - Authorization Code?

Do domain transfers from one registrar to another require an Authorization Code for .com and .net ? I did not have to do this last week...is this something new ? I know this existed for others like biz etc

Has anyone transferred .com or .net domains this week...? I am hoping this is just a glitch at my registrar because it will be a pain to do them individually for all the domains....Please comment

Authorization codes for .com and .net wen't into effect on the 28th of October I believe so yes it is something new, pain I guess, but in the end more secure.

It's not a glitch. As Jay answered it went into effect last October 28.

It's a PITA to request auth codes for every single .com/.net domain name. But
that's how it'll be nowadays when transferring them among providers.
