Hi,

I would like to suggest a Domain trading section for domain name exchanges, were people can post their favorite domain for trade and visitors can offer a domain for exchange.

Looking at the recent one-ugly-domain thread here at NP i see there are many people interested in trading these days.

It would be interesting to see which domains could you get for any of your names, i also hope to see some high caliber tradings happening.

This will be the first forum to have a domain trading section on the internet.

Be the first and be remembered...

:hehe:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Nice idea!

Although, i can imagine alot of PM's, of users wanting to trade a domain, which doesn't have any similar value. :hehe:

I do like the idea though. :tu:

Wow fastest response ive received, the idea came when i saw the one-ugly-domain thread, if you check the site and read the posts you will note you can get some decent domains starting from scratch.

Most of the domains submitted are from NP members and the OP is very thankful for that.

I personally sumbitted one of my latest domains to that trade (my name appears somewhere on that page), i didnt win the lll dot mobi but i sold the domain later :D thanks to publicity maybe?

I think its a great idea and a good oportunity to exchange you less desired domain for a beauty.

Hi shopperx,

Not a bad idea. I've heard it once before, requested by Daddy Halbucks as I recall a year or two ago. The reason we didn't do it was because there wasn't enough interest. I still don't see many users doing domain-for-domain trades, outside of OneUglyDomain of course. If this practice were to become more popular, we'd definitely consider adding a domain trade area on the site.

I think it's a great idea, -RJ- would you and all the Admins consider this petition if i start a poll here at namepros and enough members show interest?

How many members can be enough to add a trading section?

Thanks.

-rj- this practice would become more common only when there is a section to trade domain.. without which peope will not be interested to trade in the first place

I think it's a great idea, there were few threads for swaping/trading domains in the domains request section a while back(including my own thread) ;) )
Someone's junk domain might be a treasure domain to someone else ;)

Good idea, but it would become a spam section with everyone pasting their portolios and crappy domains in hopes to get better ones.

I agree with rom, you are going to get some people posting their names in every thread, regardless of value. Now if this was accompanied by a very extensive mod involving people having to enter their domains through a process which determines the "point value" of a domain, say from 1 being fvsnvon30odkn.uk.com to 10 being google.com etc. then the users only being able to see threads in the forum with domains of the same point value as yours.

I've seen many people trading high priced domains, it's becoming a common practice.

The spam can happen in a domains wanted thread too, i think that depends on the original poster. If you say something like:

"I want to trade my LLL.* for another domain, post your offer here" of course you will get spam but if you say "i want to trade these 5 LLL.org for a LLL.net only" things can be much more clear.

You can be as specific as you want, you must know what you are looking for in the first place. A poll can help admins and members to see the general opinion, if the response is weak we can drop the subject and no harm is done.
