Here's one I just heard about today:

DNA Data Storage. (We can all be biological hard drives! Let your imagination do the rest.)

Predicted to be answer to long term data storage.

I bought a few drone domains a year ago, but was unsure of whether to go for names including "drone" or "UAV". Let several expire for lack of traffic/interest.

Trying to figure out how to do the equivalent of karaoke, only with scenes from movies. Might have to wait for Hologram technology. It would be fun to play a character in your favorite movie scenes.

I agree with sofiapartner. You might speculate and buy 100 domains. Hold them for say 5 years and sell just 1 of them... And loose money on the rest of them. Or you might just end dropping all of them and loose on all! Look at the .CO hype. What happened? Nothing! Just a few $xx,xxx sales between domainers themselves! I prefer to buy what's hot today and let the long term speculation to others...

I was actually serious about that one

There are really two forms of living bulidings - the challenge from cascadia that just talks about a building that uses 0 net energy (and in some cases absorbs energy)

Then there's the even cooler use of ethical synthetic biology to create 'living' materials to build with.

I've recently been reading about building modern buildings out of wood being more sustainable long term than concrete.

It's a very interesting area. Seattle is huge on it right now I think.
