Hi,

This is my first time to sell domains. Last week I received an offer ( 5 fingers) from a domain broker and I agreed. But he said he need an official appraisal (paid apprasial, not free one) if domain is above $1000.

Is it normal?

Thanks,
Hippoking

My client has $372,000 budget for 20-25 domains. Please specify your asking price in the subject of your message.

Our company is in hosting and web development business. We also help our clients to sell and by domain names. If you have other domains for sale please email me the list. I may offer your domains to my clients.

How can we transfer money to you (escrow, wire, Paypal or Western Union)?

I also had the same thing happen to me. Thankfully I did not go through with this paid appraisal, but the guy was offering me $8,000 for a domain only if I had this receipt from a paid appraisal which would have cost me $35. I told him to make the price $7,000 and he buy the appraisal himself. Never heard from him again.

Give him two fingers! If someone makes an offer on a name they already know what it's worth to them so asking for a paid appraisal doesn't make sense.

The second anyone asks you to pay something up-front, run a mile.

If scams aren't obvious to you and you have to come on to a forum for advice, you might be better off just keeping your money in the bank.
