What percentage of the domains sales shown on DnJournal each week do you think are actually to end users rather than domainers ?

Any ideas ?

I would at least say that most sales by buydomains are to end users :)
Now your question is tricky because I am both domainer and end user...

Yeah, me too - seems like the $1000 to $4000 range is pretty acceptable to alot of end users. Much more than that and they run a mile :hehe:

Any other opinons ?

Thanks

Personally i think they are mainly domainers looking for investments or for themselves to develop. Most end users go straight for a name they want or are promtped by a domainer with that name.

I think it is more like a 50/50 split among end users and domainers. Their is no real way to tell.

whois might help. you could also try to keep track of the names and see what sites develop on them, if any.

I would say that porn and computer went to end user and poker.in to a domainer. But at the same time you can really never tell.

I totally agree but if i was an end user and invested 1mil+ into a domain name i would get a site up ASAP. If i was a domainer and invested that much money i would just park it and let the revenue roll in. Porn.com in a couple years could double its price so could computer.com and all the other high premium domains out there. So i would be surprised if these highly wanted domains were just domainers buying them up and waiting for the right offer from an end user. We all know once it goes to an end user its gone forever especially these types of domains. Tip of the day: Keep them if you got them!

Not the case. You generally want to take your sweet time so when the site goes live its the best site possible. Because with a name like porn.com the traffic is going to flow like crazy.

I did a check in the .co.uk market and it was around 40% used for sites or forwarded and 60% parked or dead pages after a purchase.

Right. However very few co.uk names are going for 1mil+ which is what makes the idea that domainers could be buying up names for the millions a bit out there.
