I can't quite understand the meaning of domain parking. Tell me if I'm wrong. You have nothing on your domain page, other then tons of advertisments. Whenever someone clicks on one of your ads: you get money.

If it works like this, then I don't understand how people make money from this. Why would someone enter a website, if it has NOTHING on it but advertisments? Also, wouldn't it just be better to actually make a website and put Google Adsense on it?

One more question. What does 'developing' a website mean?

While it doesn't seem intuitive right off the bat, you'd be surprised at how many people do click on the ads on parked pages. The point of parking is to have a keyword-rich page that search engines like (and hopefully a domain that also gets type-in traffic). While the average avid Internet user doesn't usually click on the ads, there's still plenty of people who do.

The appeal with parking pages as opposed to developing a web site (which I'll get to in a second) is the speed with which you can do it. Most parking services automatically generate the pages for you, which means that you don't have to worry about manually doing the HTML for everything and testing it all. When you have hundreds or thousands of domains, not all of which lend themselves to heavily-developed pages, you're talking about hundreds of hours of work just to get through a few domains.

As for developing a site, it just means putting together a site that has topical information on it, then mixing ads into there. That model works better for certain domains, since they tend to keep eyes on the page longer, and hopefully, on the ads as well. For other domains, though, it doesn't make much sense. If it's a very niche topic, or there's not a lot to write about the topic, there's no incentive for someone to read through a bunch of text, and therefore they'll hit the back button before clicking on your ads.

yah you can use adsense for domains for that and earn money!

I rather like setting up my own super simple parking page with a single adsense banner on it. In my experience, click-thru rate improves when there isn't anything else to click.

Google adsense and Google parked pages are 2 different things. I'll list 2 websites so you can see the difference. One has ad-sense ads on it and a Google parked page has sponsored links that are relevant to the domain name.

rvspy (dot) com <<<< google adsense

wwwdubaiuae (dot) com <<<< google parked page

Type the address into your browser to see the pages.

Edit: actually rvspy has both Google adsense and a Google affiliate banner which is different also.

Personally I don't appreciate Google Adsense. When you use it you are just maiking money from the air, and i can't appreciate this. It is not ethical at all, to my mind.

Someone wants to advertise. They pay for that. A visitor clicks through to their website.

That's not making money from thin air. That's passing along a customer. A referral.

Exactly. It is what online advertising is all about. Finding customers. 100% legal and a lot better than making money from running guns or drugs. A lot more money in the illegal stuff.

Domain parking is great in theory, unless there is no traffic coming to it. Google isn't going to send traffic to a domain that has nothing to be indexed but ads. An adsense ad I saw yesterday sums it all up, "Domain parking is idiotic". I thought, "yeah, it is a waste of space".
