Hi,

I registered a .co.uk over 10 years ago and have been paying the bills over that time.

It was bought for a friend of the family, who ran a business and they never paid anything and died last year, the wife is thinking about selling the business.

Now who does that domain belong to me, who paid it for it over the time, or the business?

Is the domain registered in your name or the business? Who has the access to the account with the registrar?

If the business has a website using the domain name, then I would say it belongs to the business.
if it's just a domain name that has been dormant for ten years, and you registered it, paid for it, and have full access to it, then I would say it's yours.
I'm not a lawyer; but have had a similar situation where the other party never paid anything. I didn't actually sell the domain name. I closed the website and let the domain name drop. I lost a little money, and a friend. Who needs friends who don't pay?

Regards

Ralph.
