discuss Domain naming purely for parking a viable strategy?

I have an interesting question here.....I think!

Is hand regging a domain that's available and has good quality keywords in it, purely for planting on a parking site a viable and sound investment for a potential long term domainer?
Is it a strategy or at least one strategy amongst many to acquire several of these type sites to gradually generate income?

I'd be grateful for anyones views.......

If it was 10 years ago=yes
Today it would be hard to hand register available domains and generate substantial parking income. You'd be better off targeting domains someone is selling with existing parking earnings that you can verify or buying expired domains with existing backlinks in google from previous web development.
I used to make decent money from parking but as that slowly slid into less and less each year since 2003 I've moved more to using sales landing pages to sell the domains over parking income.
So the reduction in parking income pushed me to do my own sales pages as was easier to give up the parking earnings the lower they got.
So you can make money from parking income but if you hand register 100 domains the reality would usually be that a handful pay their way while the other 90 suck up all those earnings in domain renewal fees.

@SpareDomains, Agreed 100% , Parking was a great lucrative option 10 years ago, It provided an easy solution for a persons undeveloped names, Provided the names were managed correctly, It was a decent monthly check to look forward to. today, the upstream providers have thinned down to few, and those few ad providers are hanging on for dear life. I figure it is almost closing time for domain parking.

You have great options out there, far better than using a DN parking company, Everything from a simple landing page, To a simple WordPress development with your addition of RSS feeds, adding in adsense-yillix amazon and ect as streams of income, To as simple as using ToughDomains.com or DUB.io , Both platforms are free, they both offer revenue streams for your names.

Those hand reged domains just need time to mature, That can take 2 to 3 years to really establish and get a nice amount of backlinks and good indexing, Patience is a virtue with fresh hand reged domains, The wait is well worth it!
