I can't imagine the general liability was of much use to registrars anyway. The exception being the big guys like GoDaddy with lots of offices. I'm sure they didn't drop it. What should be required is E&O, and if not required, you would be stupid to not have it as a registrar.

The cost for generally liability insurance for $500,000 is probably no more than a few hundred bucks a year, if that much.

This is a non-issue.
