Domain Name History Checking

I am curious if there is any wind I can find out if a particular Domain Name has ever been registered before.

I would like to register a Domain that has never been registered or has been indexed, ever.

Please let me know if such services exist.

As rickypham said, domaintools for registration details and I use the WayBack Machine to check for past web development (and thus likely indexing), I also sometimes check historical PR with fastpagerank.com
