Hello,

Please enlighten me :)

Saw this post: namepros.com/threads/rexi-com-sold-for-42-405-pgslot88-com-for-41-001.1347846/
and wondering why some domain names that are hard to pronounce/write etc still can be sold for ten of thousands (pizzeria*****)

What to look for when investing in domains?
Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

I didn't say pgslot88 brother. I meant some of the names there are hard to be pronounced or written, yet worth ten of thousands? Just wondering why?

Hi

some names that don't have obvious value, may sell for thousands of $, simply because of the number of backlinks it has.
those numbers, if valid, could produce lots of traffic for the buyer.

there will always be some 'headscratchers" in the news.

imo...

There are a bunch of reasons for this.
It can be an abbreviation or specific term that makes perfect sense, just not to all, but to a specific group.
Another popular reason is another language. The name can be a perfect dictionary word/term/meaning in any other language, besides English. I have such names in my portfolio.
Third one - and indeed exists, - some people launder money through domains, so they don't care about what the actual name is at all.
Fourth - yes, backlinks and SEO.
And finally - there are also options when registrar (or domainers!) are blowing the bubble to create a hype around a certain tld, and not necessarily they start with single dictionary words, but with something weird to show ''popularity'' (look, anything sells here!).
