Hi

I have a domain registered at Godaddy which is in redemption period right now. It expired on Expiration Date: 2012-02-28.

I cant find it in my Godaddy account, nor can I find it in TDNAM or anywhere for auctions.

is there to find out where can i renew the domain name? also, when will the domain name drop so that I can register it back?

Thanks!
Akshay

Go to your control panel, and under the Domain tab, go to "Recover Expired Domains" and see if it's in there. I think names listed here are subject to a hefty recovery fee.

If the name is not there, it may be too late and you may have to backorder it.

Not sure of the times involved by GD, but generally after a domain expires there is first a 'reactivation period' of the redemption period, for 2 or 3 weeks I think, where you can reactivate your domain for only reg fee;

After that first period it goes to redemption period of another month or month/half where you can still redeem it but there is a hefty fee; at Namecheap last I checked the fee was $200, but I don't know what the fee is at GD.

Finally the domain goes into pending delete, where you cannot redeem it at all and must get it only by backorder/dropcatch etc

Your domain is past the reg fee reactivation period, but has not entered pending delete, so you can still ask GD (use a support ticket) to redeem it if you're willing to pay the extra fee. They may have a way for you to do this yourself, but with most registrars you have to ask support to redeem a domain this way.

If this name is worth more than the above mentioned extra fee for you, then it makes sence.

Otherwise let it drop and hope that no one wants it, check again after its dropped and with some luck you can reregister it again for reg fee.

If you can find the domain in this folder, try unlocking the domain, request an authorization code and then transfer it out to a different registrar. That way you avoid the extra fees and regain control of the domain at just the cost of transferring out.

I'm not sure when that works and when it doesn't but it has worked for me at very late stages.

If the domain is under 42 days after expiry. You can transfer it out for normal transfer fees. Go to "Recover Expired Domains", unlock and request the auth code. If it's not there, it's too late. If you do a whois and it says there is no record at GoDaddy, then it's already been deleted at GoDaddy (on day 45 after expiry) and can only be recovered by paying GoDaddy's Redemption Fee $80 + Renewal Fee. It will drop approx 81 days after expiry.

Looks like OP is cutting it really close.

2012-02-28 + 42 days = ?

Hope you can get it back!

Hmmm, looks like it's too late to get back at this point if someone bid on it. I just had a TDNAM auction win added to my account today. Previous expiration date: 2012-02-28
