Domain hosting question

I just recently registered a new .info domain, and I also am being hosted by a guy that gave me subdirectory on his server. Now my question is, can this guy host my domain and point it directly to my directory so it'll looks like I'm accessing the home directory? Or should I just register a hosting package and host the domain?

if he gots reseller host then you got home directory /home/urname/public_html
If not he is using multidomain hosting you got /public_html/xxx
xxx is ur directory you don't have access of public_html
I think they are many free hosting out there even cpanel host but with limits

Thanks for your commences, and I just recently remembered that I can ask him to host my domain with the domain add on feature.
