I just wanted to say for those that didnt know already is that www.archive.org is a great tool to check up on the history of a domain. It provides dates as well as cache versions of previous pages. Its pretty cool.

I was suprised when I had searched for some of my domains today.

Yes, it is a very useful tool.

Agreed. It is a very useful tool in determing what an expired domain name may have been used for. It can give direction on determining potential sales value and potential industries that may be interested. I use it everyday!

One thing to note is that the archive runs about 6-9 months late, so there is that gap (maybe there is a Google cache you could check).

Another thing that I think interesting and useful is that there is a mirror site in Alexandria, Egypt, part of the effort to re-establish the Great Ancient Library there.
