There is no such thing as a free transfer (except for courtesy account transfers on certain hosts/registrars where two accounts are with the same company). I'm not charging you anything on my end, yes, but it's impossible for you to transfer it to your registrar on your end without renewing it for another year.

I thought you guys were experts on this stuff?

Also, I'm not sure I understand what some of you are talking about them being sold? I've handed the codes out to a few people now and no one has even begun the transfer process.

You shouldn't be selling something until it's actually in your possession, that's entirely your responsibility and does not fall on me.

Yep, some of us are experts here, but I do believe there is a communication problem on your end....

Most of us (imo) are not looking for the transfer codes and pay to have those domains of yours transfered to another registrar.

We are looking for an "internal transfer",commonly called a "push" ,where the registrar of your domains will, for no charge, "push" the domains to another account within the same registrar. No extra renewal time is added with this procedure. Most major registrars do this . I am assuming your "Fast Domain Inc" registrar does not and that is why you have no clue about what we are talking about. No problem. Now you understand.

We "push" domains frequently here when we buy and sell, especially with generally well-known registrars.....

Actually, I did know that (although I wasn't familiar with the lingo as I'm a web designer, not a domain broker) and your response is a little condescending, especially considering I'm here just trying to do a nice thing by giving away domains that I no longer need for free instead of just letting them expire.

The problem is a lot of the PMs I'm getting is in regard to the fact that they didn't understand that transfers usually are going to cost around $10 (depending on their registrar) on their end. It has nothing to do with inquiring about the host/registrar account in order to simply do an account transfer.

For those that did ask I informed them that it's all under HostMonster (who is FastDomain). In fact, HostMonster, BlueHost, JustHost, FastDomain and others I can't recall at the moment are all the same company.

For the record, HostMonster does allow free courtesy transfers between two HostMonster accounts. More info on HostMonster transfers in general:

As far as people saying that they've sold the domains already you have to admit that that is a pretty bizarre and irresponsible thing to do until they actually have the domain in their possession.

In any case, this has become a burden just to give something away for free.
