My friend has a pretty big web buisness and it has a unique name. I am going to buy him some more extensions for the domain so if it gets bigger, (which it will) there wont be any copy cat domains. (forgot the correct term for that)

I have narrowed the list down some but want to get rid of a lot more extensions. I will buy all of them if I have to, but do some like .name really matter?

.com .co.uk .net .org
.info .tv .biz
.us .ca .name
.me .eu .mobi

thanks for the help.

.name good for keeps and for personal names :imho: not to resell

Buy the .com and anything country code specific for your firm (for instance if you do business in russia and uk, buy co.uk and .ru)
Trademark your .com name

If you do get bigger later on, you can demand the other domains under trademark protection if you really need to. But the reality is .com has been king for quite some time and will be for some time to come. It is unlikely you will ever need to pursue someone with your .biz or other extension because unless they are trying to impersonate as your company, it's fairly harmless.
