Hi All

Been domaining off and on for awhile but not ashamed to admit still a noob

I'm sure this has been asked off and on before I have one domain I wanted to list for auction at godaddy

I used a few free appraisal services such as nameboy and estibot

Nameboy suggested the domain is worth about 8892 and estibot says the reg fee so when listing the seven day auction I put the starting bid at 10.00

and in the description the link to the nameboy appraisal

Is this a good way to go about listing

this will be the first domain name I listed for sale

Talk to everyone later

Also when listing is it best to keep my whois information private ?

Thanks

Honestly, an experienced domainer will look past your apprisal as most domainers know that free appraisal services are just an "estimate" at the best, there are a lot of factor that go into a true domain appraisal. However, it sure does not hurt to put an appraisal link either

You'll probably get a good price if you aim your domain sale to end-users!.

good luck

Listing info from Nameboy and Estibot is ok, but it may indicate you are new at this. What will really tell the story is how you price the domain and how you write your ad.

When you have an appraisal for $8,892 and you put the starting bid at 10.00, it says one of two things: 1) I am willing to let this valuable domain go cheaply, or 2) I want you to think the domain is worth a lot, but to make sure I get some bids, I'm going to start it low. :)

Selling domains is tricky and I'm no expert, but in addition to listing apprasal informtion, I would see what the other TLDS are selling for or if they have sites and list that information. List the traffic your domain is getting, and what the bids are in Google for the keywords in your domain. Just provide as much good information as you can about your domain, and write about all the positive things that you can, without lying or making things up. Good Luck!

I do not rely on automated domain appraises.
If you have a good name, you should list it for sale, and you will get a buyer for sure. Even if you not attach nameboy appraise.

but there are rare chances that some noob may come up and see the appraise and actually buy your domain :D

one of the best thing you can do is after you list your domain and the auction has started is to contact all the end users that might be interested in your domain and tell them the domain is now on auction
there is a lot of domains being listed on godaddy and if the domain dont have very good keyword its hard to get someone to notice you,
iam not sure that writing estibot or nameboy estimate is the way to go..
when i see it , i dont take it seriously , might be a good way to capture the noobs attention, but its also not very fair and some folks that are new to domains might think this is a real estimate
write how many searches this key word get, ppc, backlinks, pagerank, age and ofcourse traffic stat and revenue if any

Good luck !:tu:
