I vote, to give an appraisal on a domain, you also HAVE TO give an explanation.

Just so fed up with viewing 'reg fee' with no explanation and then you see the very same member post the very same comment against 20 or so other appraisals.

I understand appraising is a matter of opinion but why is it (on the flip side)that other members give appaisals based upon research and understanding and they give their opinions freely with an explanation to boot.

Do you still get NB$$ for giving an appraisal??

I agree.. and I'm willing to always give an explanation as to why I'd appraise something at reg fee (or any other value) but sometimes it's more ephemeral, where a domain might or might not click... in the end, appraisals really mean nothing compared to the actual sale. :imho:

You should post this in the "Domain Appraisals" forum.

^^ Righto, Anthony!
He's been warned, both within his Appraisals thread -and- in "Private-to-Staff" ... spamming like this is not acceptable, IMHO.
__

"Explanations" are an excellent suggestion ... of course, we can only suggest and encourage that folks be a bit more descriptive in this manner, as we can't force them to it, IMHO. I've heard from folks that getting "Reg. fee(s)" or some dollar amount valuation(s) even without the full explanation(s) is still better than not getting any or even few responses to their thread(s), as well. Truly.
So, in the constant quest for making the "Appraisals Forum" the best that it can be ... including the inspiration of higher quality/descriptive appraisals, as well as in keeping with the concept of earning NP$'s for posts (but also being vigilant against spam solely for the purpose of obtaining NP$'s), we are at this VERY time working on some earlier suggestions to bring about a bit more activity -and- purpose to the "Appraisals Forum" going foward. :talk:

Please keep the thoughts coming ... and look for updates on this soon. :)
Thanks.

I figure it is a courtesy to fellow members to include a reason behind your appraisal. From this information we can only hope to learn and grow so we do not repeat out mistakes. How often does this happen to us (I know it does to me a lot!), you are sitting at home and looking for domains and you for some reason register "BusinessAntarctica2004.com" and at the time it seems really cool, but you later figure it out and chalk it up to lack of sleep or good wine. So it helps to recieve feedback however in a positive manner. I find here at NamePros that people are more friendly than other forums which I won't mention. So if we keep in mind we are all in the same boat, albeit some of us have bigger oars, we should all help each other out.
(man that sounds sappy)

PS how do i get one of those Nifty Stars?

I don't have any of those... :tri: :tri: :tri:

Seems that the REG FEE w/o explaination come from the inexperienced. Not positive, but just my opinion. Also, posting REG FEE "woe" is worthless in the analizing of a names true value; What IS Reg Fee? Well, NetSol it's $35, Domainsite it's $6.99, RegisterFly it's $9.99... so that makes the post even more worthless.

The appraisal is to get a feel for the value OVER reg fee, so "woe" does absolutly no good. Obviously I hope that it's worth reg fee, or I wouldn't have reg'ed it in the first place. :imho:

IDK if you can do this or how long it would work but you could try making it so that there has to be a minimum number of characters in a post in the domain apprasial forum to pay the NP, since not many people watch their NP that closly (I doubt) it should work for some time.

Good idea.. but sometimes the name's speak for themselves... not much to say or add in those cases.

BTW- NP is nice, but certainly isn't what motivates my posts... I wonder if that's the case with most?

My posts are only motivated by NP when I am appraising something. Otherwise I am posting because I want to basicially, wouldn't care if NP got cut off from posting in this forum (though wish it wouldn't)

Lately I find that your name(s) only get appraised alot if they are REALLY BAD or REALLY GOOD or REALLY CONTROVERSIAL. Any kind of so so name(s) may, or may not, get appraised at all.
