Hi,
Does anybody know any cheap italian domain registrars? I'm not looking for something like eurodns.com, I am looking for a local registration company since they are always cheaper.

Thanks,
Petros

Are you looking to register .it domains, using a local (Italian) registrar ?

thanks for the reply sid,

sdsinc, I am looking for a local registrar that has an english version of the website, so that I can use it to buy italian domains. The reason is that europian tld registrars charge 30-35 euro for such a domain. I know that there are cheaper registrars that do that for 9-10 euro, but they are loacal registrars and it's all in italian language. If I could find a local registrar with english website I woule be very happy

Even the registrars that I'm aware of offering Enlish versions of their site (e.g. http://we.register.it) charge €30-ish too. I'm not sure if you managed to find any using ThisDot's tactic?

I'm not sure if you're aware of this (apologies if you are), most local registrars will need you to fax them a signed form and will need your (EU) address and Passport number.
Some of the more expensive ones (e.g. EuroDNS) will be the contact for your .it domain at no extra cost. So if you're not an EU citizen or have not access to a fax machine then the extra €10-€15 might be the only option...

Hi sid, I am aware of the .it registration process, I already registered some domains with eurodns... but 32euro seem too much.

Someone from DNF gave me a list of ICANN accredited registrars in italy, and one of those registrars offers .it names at 10euro (aruba.it) and has an english version of the homepage, so I think this is as good as it is going to get;)
Thank you all for addressing my question and trying to help out.

For those interested in their prices, see http://hosting.aruba.it/offerte/LISTINO.asp

The only problem with Italian domains is it that it is required you send to the Authority a document that is called L.A.R. (Assumption of Responsibility) where you must declare you are an Individual or a Company (insuch case you must prove it) and you obviously are resident in Italy. (Medievals! )
If was not for that (that is a real hassle) I would have just invited to use one very convenient (7-10 euro) registrar.
Please when using an European and especially an Italian registrar, be shure to have also read the renewal fees, very often they are absurdly high!(10 euro to register , 35 euro or more to renew!)

Actually you need some local presence in the EU, not necessarily in Italy.
