Is there a difference between having links on your site appear like this:

e.g. http://www.namepros.com

and like this:
Code:
http://www.namepros.com?

If I have lots of hyperlinks on my site (linking to other sites) can it affect my site's PR?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

The questionmark at the end is used to signify some data that is going to be passed to the web server. That is, it may not be part of the real URL needed to access the page. In the case where you just have the questionmark, I don't think it will really affect anything, but it could been seen as a different or duplicate url because it would display the same content for each. The best thing would be to remove it, but if you can't, I would not worry about it.

If you have less than 100 links on a page I don't think it will cause any problems. If you have a lot of text and over 100 links it may also be ok, but generally pages should be reasonable in size (Less than 100k for the page itself). In the PR formula they say that the potential for your page to pass PR to other sites is lessened the more links you have, but I would not worry about it. If you have a lot of links I think it can help your site, since sites with many links like DMOZ.org can be seen as an "authority" and a good resource. But if you just have a lot of links without much text than it would not be as user-friendly and may not help your site as much.

I hope this helps! :)

Also keep in mind that sites like dmoz.org are considered an "authority" as nielsencl said because it is considered a useful resource since it is a directory. Many large useful directories talk to search engine staff to ensure that their directories are not treated as a link farm. Sites that have pages with tons of links can be a bad thing and can hurt pr if you are not careful. Google loves content. If you have alot of content on a page with links in the paragraphs or something then it would probably be considered more of a resource. There is no exact way of knowing how much it will effect your PR because the google pr formula is not really something that is released to the public. You can however learn about the formula on the google website and see what they recommend you do to accomplish a good pr.
