^^^^^ That makes at least 2 of us that were early abandoners (if that is even a word).

I can't even remember my user name there.

____.com is currently for sale along with it's database of 535,000 Domainers. Many of the Domainers have more than 10-10000 domains. Lots of potential business for the right company. If interested email sales@____.com with an offer or any questions you may have. Only offers received through the email will be considered. This will be a fast, smooth escrow.com transaction.

I replied to their email and asked them when I would be receiving a refund for my lifetime membership.:watching:

The brand is tarnished beyond repair,
Nobody can save it now.

Just let it go in peace, I hope anyone thinking of buying it reads this, but without proper tags will never index.

Might as well put it up for sale on Flippa starting for a dollar.

My last deal done there was for 17,500 in aug/sept 2015. Like 5 messages , into escrow, buyer had prepaid balance in escrow, paid and closed in an hour.

I saw many heavy hitters come do quick 4-5 figure deals there, lots of good deals to be had if you had cash on hand for quick purchases.

I once claimed BIN on a $10K thread, and someone PM’ed me and offered me $2500 just for that right to claim that BIN, classy members for sure. A few tried to go behind the back, one was named Blair, not so classy.

,

+1

those type of deals and some of that trust among members, was the biggest loss to the community, as a whole.

as you expressed, I too benefitted, not only from sales and purchases, but also from the knowledge acquired, acquaintances' made and friendships established, all while gaining respectability among and from my peers.

sure, some of that can, and has been made here,
but what it was, will always be the hurdle, for whatever it could be in the future.

imo....

It could be rolled into this one, but the question is, how many people that were active have already abandoned it?

I don't know but I wasn't on there for years if that tells ya anything.

Why not ? It is a business, so it can be resold along with the corporate assets.
That in itself is not the problem. The problem is not paying for services rendered, and not treating members right as I understand there was no advance notice to members that it was shutting down. Some members might want to backup their PMs or quietly finish ongoing business that was taking place on the forum. Unfortunately it is a tarnished brand, had the forum changed ownership faster (for real) and been rebranded - then they might have been able to salvage something. What goes around comes around.

I was a mod, blocked, and have not posted regularly for years, so I am not sure what you would value the site, honestly. The name might still get some traffic, as it is generic, but anything past that...

abandoned it many years ago because I liked NamePros more.

I registered there a long time ago and have never been able to post or view a subject because I have not paid for that priviledge. Yet somehow I am counted as one of the registered members.

They need to deduct my membership from your so called advertised member count because I have never seen a topic there. I can do nothing but look at titles.

How many like me are there? 1000, 2000 more?

What is the abandoned member count?

I can see topic titles and a lot is just old news, but you gotta admit the logo is pretty, shiny and new :xf.wink:

Glad that I used to be a member there and am now considered a commodity to be bargained for..

The owners name is George Verdugo and Kevin Faler and the Tech guy is Mark (I don't know his last name).

From DNJournal

http://www.dnjournal.com/cover/2017/december.htm

In another venture, Verdugo teamed up with Kevin Faler last year to buy the oldest domain name forum online - DNF. "DNF is a long term project of mine I am serious about building back the traffic as well as the reputation of DNF," George said. "DNF is where most in the industry first learned about domains. The future of DNF will be based on domains and crypto currencies. We plan on spending money to advertise the forum in 2018 to bring in retail buyers and sellers. We are also happy to entertain any ideas or partnerships that can help us grow the forum. I look forward to a great 2018 for DNF."

There are only a few active members there and lots of spammers.
"Many of the Domainers have more than 100 domains. Lots of potential business for the right company. If interested email.... "
Wtf?!

I agres with Kate here. Why can't they sell? They are not selling just a domain here. They are selling the developed site, members and functionality and all. People do that every day.

NamePros was sold and when it was sold they didn't delete entire site. That would be ridiculous. The equity is in the built out site/brand not just the domain name. Everything turned out just fine here.

Ok this is probably totally off math lol:

535,000 Domainers

Minus junk/bot/spammy accounts. And minus people you wont make a nickel off of.

53,500

Times a dollar per

Worth 50k

(as stated prob totally off)

Yep ...... someone had to say it!

The crypto posts are all simply auto generated links. The real activity is just 10-15 posts per day (you can verify yourselves!). If you discount the "domains for sale" posts by sellers, the remaining activity is next to nothing.

The only other asset is a database of emails and contacts which is more than three years old (effectively, since the site went down multiple times, causing the power users to migrate). That's effectively dead. Unless a company spams, there is nothing significant to be extracted from it.

Liabilities

  • Negative publicity.
  • A moderator recently left the site because he wasn't paid, allegedly.
  • Owners, despite being optimistic a month back (check the posts) saying they will move in the crypto direction, are desparately trying to sell the site.
  • No new content worthwhile, which is DEATHKNELL for any forum.

Revenue per month

???? Nothing, I guess?

I don't want to disparage the site (long long back, there was a time when it was good).
So I won't post a figure. But you can form your own conclusions about the value.

Just discovered this same email in my junk mail folder.

I got it in my spam folder too, and just happened to look through it. I had a screenshot to show that, but apparently, it disappeared. So what was your name there?
Isn't John an owner over there now?

Not anymore. The classless co-owner Lars (@promo) drove @johnn away. That's the modus operandi of Mr. Lima. He's an Adam Dicker in the making, IMO.

I told @johnn that he dodged a bullet by not being associated anymore.
