thanks for the good comments...any thoughts on the concept of buying domains with the money and have the portfolio listed where everyone can watch it grow?
thanks
it's a fine line you're walking here. if this is not presented right, then the immediate thought would be, "why would i want to finance his coming wealth?".
In the presentation I'd suggest the route of public portfolio with profit sharing. your model is already going down the path of taking a percentage of your revenue and re-investing it. why not letting people directly claim a (financial) stake at the domain portfolio? it's administered by you, at your discretion, displayed publicly and so forth. Investors that can otherwise not afford a top level domain, can now share the cake. (just typing out loud here)
If you decide that the market is right and the conditions for a sale are being met, then you sell the domain, claim your administrative percentage and share the rest with the investors. simple concept, not so simple in the process of laying it out. Your model of reinvesting into domains should give you a head start in the approach, though and provide you with the opportunity to show that you're the real deal. to kick it off, offer the advertiser a FREE stake in the domains that are being purchased, if it works out the first time around, it should gain momentum and practically become a valid business model.
in an analogy: it's like domain time share or domain shareholding...
again, just thinking out loud here - this may be totally inadmissible.
