The "d" typically stands for decentralized, commonly put in front of short domain names to differentiate them from the regular ICANN-based web to the blockchain. Also known as Web3 or dWeb domains.

The super-short Handshake top-level domain C/ created by Clay Collins surpassed 1000 second-level domain registrations (a second-level domain is the domain before the dot), making it the first ever TLD to reach this milestone.
