Recently, there’s been some buzz around the DNAcademy Challenge, which promotes the idea of starting small and building big. It’s currently being taken on by six well-known figures in the domain industry (read more here: https://mi.ke/challenge/).

I’ve posted twice before (here and here) with some pushback, suggesting that replicating that kind of success might be harder for those of us without an established profile.

But in today’s Cyger Says (unsolicited plug: always a great read—subscribe here: https://cygersays.com/), @Michael Cyger makes a strong case that this may not be the case after all.

Just wanted to share.

In his words:
One data point to show it’s about the quality of the domain names

And not about who’s selling them or their reputation and social media reach

Josh just sold two $1 auction buys for $99 each

So you know how some people have been talking about how the @DNAcademy challenge has participants who are using their reach to sell domain names?

(Maybe you haven't heard, which is great!) haha

Well, Josh Reason did the same thing and got the same criticism.

So he decided to test whether it was the domain names or his reputation that sold them.

Here's one data point to show who it was the domain names and not his reputation as he used a new, anonymous @NamePros account.

Sorry Josh, hopefully the Mods will let you change your username again! But that's on Michael, not me.
